Description

Overview

Make an Impact!

At McGraw Hill we create best-in-class, next-generation learning platforms that are used by millions of students and educators worldwide from kindergarten through graduate school. Our goal is to accelerate student success through intuitive and effective learning tools and content that maximize a teacher’s time and a student’s learning experience. We do all of this in a supportive, collaborative environment where you can grow your career in a way that fits into your life.

How can you make an impact?

As a Technical Product Manager for 1–2 software development teams within the Platform Operations organization, you’ll help keep our product-engineering teams productive, secure, and modern. Platform Ops focuses on two primary workstreams: an Operational Support Team that builds and operates internal capabilities such as enterprise LLM chat, AI-assisted content authoring, AI-powered workflow automation, CI/CD change automation, forward-looking AI orchestration, and Customer Support; and a Security-focused Team that keeps repositories patched, compliant, and free of known vulnerabilities across hundreds of services, with an increasing emphasis on automation and AI-assisted remediation. Your focus will be on hardening these platforms and programs for production-scale use across the company while expanding automation and AI capabilities for product and engineering teams. You’ll own the product vision for your teams, collaborating across engineering, UX, security, internal business stakeholders, and the product teams that use these platforms to determine what to build and why, with the autonomy to lead your domain and the responsibility that comes with it.

This is a remote position open to applicants authorized to work for any employer within the United States.

What you will be doing:

  • Understand company strategy and use it to guide decisions; collaborate with TPMs and stakeholders to identify high-value problems, especially around making AI capabilities and security automation safe, governed, and useful within a large enterprise.
  • Translate high-level goals into clear deliverables, maintain and prioritize the backlog, and make scope tradeoffs when reality doesn’t match the plan.
  • Leverage product metrics, usage telemetry, vulnerability/SLA data, cost signals, and user feedback to prioritize work, revisit decisions as you learn, and ensure the team is building the right things rather than chasing arbitrary targets.
  • Serve as the primary product contact for internal product and engineering teams, security partners, and external AI/LLM providers; align on specifications, data requirements, security posture, and timelines while flagging misalignments early.
  • Partner with Program Managers and Engineering Leads to maintain team health and delivery, surface dependencies and risks, clear obstacles, and document API specifications, data flows, UX expectations, governance, and security requirements so others can build correctly.
  • Triage bugs and customer issues, prioritize fixes, communicate resolutions, follow up on SLAs, and share what you build through demos, documentation, and enablement that helps internal teams adopt new capabilities.

We are looking for someone with:

  • Bachelor’s Degree and 2+ years in product management or equivalent experience.
  • Experience working with software development teams on complex problems in iterative environments, along with hands-on experience with APIs, developer platforms, internal tools, or systems that other teams build on; you understand the complexity of connecting systems and serving internal customers.
  • Passionate about using metrics and user feedback to inform decisions; comfortable moving forward without perfect data while knowing when deeper analysis is needed.
  • Experience partnering across engineering, QA, design, security, and customer-facing teams, with the ability to navigate competing priorities constructively and without creating unnecessary friction.
  • Able to tailor communication to different audiences, explain technical tradeoffs to non-technical stakeholders, translate business needs for engineers, and figure things out when faced with constraints.
  • Interest or experience with AI/LLM products, prompt engineering, or agentic systems; familiarity with developer-productivity tools, internal platforms, or DevOps/CI-CD workflows; experience with application security, vulnerability management, or dependency automation such as SBOMs, CVE triage, and automated patching; an enterprise or platform software background; and awareness of AI governance, model evaluation, cost/observability, or security review processes. Different perspectives make us better, so candidates who meet most of the qualifications are encouraged to apply.
