Commercial Construction Superintendent - Mission CriticalJob Description:
A Traveling Superintendent directs on-site operations for Mission Critical construction projects in accordance with the project schedule and HITT’s safety and quality standards. This individual serves as the primary field leader, coordinating project teams, subcontractors, clients, vendors, and commissioning partners.
This position will initially support a data center project in Colorado Springs and requires extensive travel based on project needs.
Responsibilities
- Direct daily field operations for data center and Mission Critical projects
- Serve as the on-site safety leader and administer HITT’s safety program across all subcontractors
- Maintain HITT quality standards throughout all phases of construction
- Coordinate structural, architectural, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, controls, life-safety, and technology scopes
- Oversee Mission Critical infrastructure, including electrical distribution, emergency power, generators, UPS systems, cooling equipment, and controls
- Partner with the project manager to develop and maintain project schedules, look-ahead plans, and recovery plans
- Manage construction sequencing, site logistics, inspections, and subcontractor performance
- Coordinate equipment startup, energization, testing, commissioning, integrated systems testing, and turnover
- Track long-lead equipment and identify safety, quality, procurement, and schedule risks early
- Maintain accurate daily logs and documentation of manpower, activities, deliveries, inspections, and site conditions
- Manage punch-list, closeout, and owner-acceptance activities
- Build strong relationships with clients, subcontractors, vendors, inspectors, and commissioning partners
Qualifications
- A four-year degree in construction management, engineering, architecture, or business is preferred; additional relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree
- Five or more years of commercial construction experience with a general contractor
- Direct field leadership experience on data center or Mission Critical projects is required
- Previous experience as a Superintendent, Assistant Superintendent, or field project leader
- Experience coordinating complex MEP, controls, life-safety, and technology systems
- Knowledge of data center construction sequencing, energization, commissioning, testing, turnover, and quality-control requirements
- Ability to manage multiple trades and aggressive project schedules
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Microsoft Project, Procore, Adobe Acrobat, and Bluebeam
- OSHA 30 certification preferred
- Ability and willingness to travel extensively, including extended assignments in Colorado Springs and future project locations
- Flexibility to work extended hours, weekends, alternate shifts, or scheduled rotations as needed
- Ability to walk or stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 pounds
- Strong leadership, communication, organization, problem-solving, and relationship-building skills
- Demonstrated integrity consistent with The HITT Way and HITT’s core values
In accordance with California’s Labor Code Section 432.3, the base salary range for this position is:
$108,900.00 - $165,770.00Compensation in other cities and states may vary. HITT Contracting offers a competitive total benefits and compensation package including performance-based bonuses, premium health care coverage including vision and dental, employer-matched 401(k), wellness reimbursement program, paid holidays and time-off, and other voluntary benefits and leave types. The determination of salary is based on the candidate’s individual professional experience, qualifications, education, skills, and training.
