About the Role

Amentum is seeking an experienced Estimator to join our Water Division, supporting the successful delivery of water and wastewater infrastructure projects across the UK. The successful candidate will have proven estimating experience within the UK water sector, developing accurate and commercially robust cost estimates for projects from early-stage opportunities through to tender submission and contract award. Previous water industry experience is essential.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed estimates for water and wastewater infrastructure projects.

• Review tender documentation, drawings, specifications and client requirements.

• Develop first-principles estimates, cost models and pricing schedules.

• Obtain and evaluate supplier and subcontractor quotations.

• Identify risks, opportunities, assumptions and exclusions within tender submissions.

• Collaborate with engineering, commercial, procurement and operational teams throughout the bidding process.

• Support value engineering initiatives and cost optimisation opportunities.

• Maintain estimating records, benchmarking data and historical cost information.

• Participate in tender, risk and commercial review meetings.

• Support project handovers following contract award.

Here's What You'll Need

• Proven estimating experience within the UK water sector.

• Experience pricing water and/or wastewater infrastructure projects.

• Strong understanding of relevant construction methodologies and delivery practices.

• Ability to interpret drawings, specifications and tender documentation.

• Commercial awareness with the ability to assess project risks and opportunities.

• Experience managing supplier and subcontractor pricing exercises.

• Strong analytical, numerical and problem-solving skills.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and estimating software.

• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

Desirable Experience

• Clean water and wastewater infrastructure.

• Water and wastewater treatment works.

• Pipelines, pumping stations and associated assets.

• MEICA and civil engineering works.

• AMP/framework delivery environments.

• NEC contracts.

• Major projects and capital delivery programmes.

• Experience working with UK water companies or Tier 1 contractors.
