1st Shift Packer Utility

Description

Job Purpose:

To perform a variety of activity within department to facilitate the production process and package tools on skids according to the company and/or customer standards.

Essential Functions:

1. Assembles various tools to ready them for shipping; dips tools into liquid wax to protect sharp/pointed ends; and scraps or rubs workpiece with wire brush or buffing equipment to prepare for packaging.
2. Moves, loads and unloads tools/products in cart and transports to specific staging area; transports completed and inspected shipping cartons to staging area for transfer to the warehouse; loads and unloads materials or products onto or from pallets, skids, etc., and moves manually or with hand truck.
3. Delivers stock from one work stations to another to assist in production and/or sorts product from one tub and/or cart to another.
4. Moves, loads and unloads tools/product on cart and transports tools from staging area and/or lacquer inspection room.
5. Completes the appropriate routing sheet and inputs data entry information in a timely manner.

Additional Responsibilities:

1. Performs Pad-Print Operator’s duties as required.
2. Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS

Education/Experience:

• One month of related experience or on-the-job training.

Physical:

• Must be able to stand, walk, sit, and use arms/hands to reach, finger, handle or feel, talk and hear for 8 hours or more per day.
• Must be able to frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds; occasionally lift or move up to 50 pounds.
• Must have close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus to work.
• Employees will be exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, high noise levels, and vibration to hands.
• Employees will be required to wear hearing protection, safety glasses and foot protection.

Mental:

• Must have the ability to read and comprehend simple written and verbal instructions. 
• Must be able to perform mathematical skills such as: addition, subtractions, multiplication, and division of all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals; and ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent.
• Must have the ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
