About the opportunity

Werribee Mercy Hospital is one of Victoria's busiest public maternity services, providing comprehensive care to women and families across Melbourne's rapidly growing western region. As Director of Obstetrics, you will provide strategic, clinical and operational leadership for the Obstetric Service, working in close partnership with the Women's and Children's Leadership Team to ensure the delivery of safe, high-quality and patient-centred care.

This is a unique opportunity to lead a highly skilled multidisciplinary team of obstetricians, midwives, nurses and allied health professionals while driving clinical excellence, service innovation and workforce development. You will play a pivotal role in shaping the future direction of the service, strengthening clinical governance, supporting education and research, and ensuring exceptional outcomes for women, babies and families.

What you’ll bring

You’re resilient, compassionate and have a whole lot of heart. Most importantly, you are committed to delivering exceptional patient-centred care.

To thrive in this role, you will have

  • Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (FRANZCOG) and current Specialist Registration with AHPRA.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience in a complex healthcare environment, with expertise in clinical governance, patient safety and service improvement.
  • Exceptional communication, stakeholder engagement and relationship-building skills, with the ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and drive positive outcomes.

You will also be required to provide evidence of, or in the process of obtaining

  • Current Specialist Registration in Obstetrics and Gynaecology with AHPRA and Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (FRANZCOG).
  • Eligibility for credentialing and scope of practice at Werribee Mercy Hospital.
  • A current Police Record Check, Working with Children Check and compliance with Mercy Health's vaccination and mandatory employment screening requirements.
