Role summary:
The (USA) Merchant is responsible for developing and executing category strategies that drive business growth and profitability. This role oversees pricing, promotion, and supplier negotiations while managing profit and loss for a moderately complex category. The Merchant collaborates cross-functionally to align channel strategies and optimize product assortment, leveraging data insights to inform decisions. Leading a team, this position ensures operational excellence, supports financial planning, and enhances the customer experience across channels. The role demands strong leadership, analytical skills, and a commitment to delivering measurable business results aligned with company objectives.
About the team:
The Men’s Fashion Seasonal Merchant leads a dedicated team focused on developing and executing customer-centered assortments that enhance Walmart’s fashion presence and drive market growth. This team combines strong merchandising insight, financial expertise, and collaborative leadership to manage full P&L responsibilities. Working closely with cross-functional partners—including Product Development, Design, Sourcing, Planning, Marketing, and Operations—they deliver cohesive seasonal strategies across stores and eCommerce. The team emphasizes data-driven decision-making, market trend analysis, and supplier management to optimize product quality, pricing, and assortment, ensuring a seamless customer experience and sustained business success.
What you'll do:
  • Develop and execute category strategies aligned with long-term business plans to drive growth and profitability.
  • Manage profit and loss responsibilities, analyzing daily business performance and implementing financial plans.
  • Lead supplier negotiations, establishing terms, performance metrics, and communication protocols.
  • Oversee product assortment, pricing strategies, and promotional activities across channels.
  • Collaborate with supply chain and merchandising teams to optimize inventory and replenishment decisions.
  • Guide team performance, development, and engagement while fostering a high-performing work environment.
  • Utilize data analysis to inform decisions and support continuous improvement initiatives.

What you'll bring:
  • Proven experience in category strategy development and execution for moderately complex categories.
  • Strong financial management skills, including profit and loss ownership and budget forecasting.
  • Expertise in supplier management and negotiation to drive price leadership and profitability.
  • Ability to analyze market trends, customer behavior, and competitive landscape to inform decisions.
  • Proficiency in developing and implementing pricing and promotion strategies aligned with business goals.
  • Demonstrated leadership in managing and developing teams to achieve performance objectives.
  • Skilled in leveraging data analytics and digital tools to influence strategic initiatives and operational improvements.
  • Commitment to delivering customer-centric solutions across omni-channel environments.

The annual salary range for this position is $90,000.00 - $180,000.00 Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses. Additional compensation for certain positions may also include :
