Gray Construction is looking to add an experienced Quality Engineer to join their team.

The Quality Engineer supports project teams by executing inspections, audits, and documentation to ensure construction activities comply with approved plans, specifications, and the Quality Management System (QMS). This role focuses on learning, applying, and consistently executing quality processes in the field.
- Bachelor’s degree or technical/associate degree in a related field, or equivalent experience
- 2–3 years of relevant construction or quality experience preferred
- Government Certified Quality Technician (CQT) preferred
- Basic computer proficiency (Word, Excel, email)
- Ability to travel up to 100%

What we expect… (Essential Functions)
- Serve as onsite quality representative on one or multiple projects under the direction of quality leadership, ensuring alignment with project quality objectives.
- Assist in reviewing and managing submittals during preconstruction and coordination meetings; verify approved submittals, materials, and installations prior to and during construction.
- Monitor construction processes to identify potential quality issues and support timely resolution through practical solutions.
- Execute and document inspections, audits, and testing in accordance with Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs), project quality plans, and established procedures.
- Ensure drawings, specifications, submittals, and quality documentation are accurate, current, and maintained for both internal teams and trade partners.
- Identify, document, and track quality observations, deficiencies, and non-conforming work through resolution; coordinate corrective actions with the Site Quality Manager and verify completion.
- Support management of hold points, including verification inspections and release in coordination with Quality Site Leadership.
- Assist in managing special inspections and third-party inspections, including coordination, documentation, and resolution of non-compliance.
- Coordinate use of the Quality Management System (QMS) for auditing, reporting, and documentation, including entry of daily inspections, audits, and testing reports.
- In coordination with the Quality Site Manager, establish and manage To-Do Lists, punch lists, and observation tracking through completion and closeout.
- Read, interpret, and apply quality manuals, inspection procedures, and project-specific quality plans.
- Support implementation and follow-through of corrective actions under site quality leadership.
- Perform other duties as assigned in support of project and quality objectives.

Specific vision abilities include accurate near and distant vision.
While performing the duties of this job, the team member is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, moving mechanical parts, and outside weather conditions. The team member is occasionally exposed to high precarious places, fumes or airborne particles, extreme cold and/or heat, risk of electrical shock, explosives, and vibration. The noise level is generally moderate to loud. Overtime may be required.
Supervisory Responsibilities
Indirectly manages subcontractor Quality team and directs quality related tasks for quality coordinator on Field/Project Engineers/ Field Assistants.
The wage range for this role takes into account a wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; certifications; as well as other business and organizational needs. The disclosed range estimate has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled. It is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $70K to 90K.
