Atrium Health Navicent Primary Care Fort Valley, a facility of Atrium Health Navicent Peach, provides exceptional primary care for adults 18 and older. Services include routine physicals, women’s health, senior care, same-day sick visits, chronic disease management, and more.

This rural primary care clinic in Fort Valley, GA is seeking a Practice Operations Manager to provide leadership, support, administration, and education for daily business operations. Key responsibilities include revenue enhancement, expense management, patient and employee satisfaction, and personnel management, including hiring, onboarding, coaching, corrective action, termination, and performance evaluations. The Practice Manager will ensure the effective and efficient use of resources, including facilities, staff, equipment, time, capital, and inventory, while partnering with Navicent Health contacts to strengthen communication and support smooth operations. This role also includes daily collaboration with physicians, APPs, and staff on business and clinical operations; oversight of financial performance and compliance with system policies; appropriate delegation and accountability; and timely execution of duties aligned with health system goals. Successful candidates will have ambulatory operations experience in an outpatient setting. Primary care, quality, and performance improvement experience are strongly preferred.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Manages practice personnel, including recruiting, hiring, onboarding, staffing, training, coaching, evaluating performance and disciplining practice and/or clinic employees. Conducts regular MD and staff meetings in each practice and/or clinic to cascade current and accurate information in a timely and effective manner, to engage the staff, to identify and resolve problems, and to improve the operations and work environment in the practices and clinics.
  • Controls the purchase and use of medical and administrative supplies and materials in the practice and/or clinic. Ensures invoices are processed for payment in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Investigates operational problems and initiates solutions.  Assists staff with daily duties in times of increased workflow or staff shortages.
  • Monitors overall revenue processes for the practice and/or clinic in coordination with the Central Billing Office ensuring that all charges are posted and deposits are made according to policy.
  • Participates in the development of an annual capital budgets, operating budgets and marketing plans for the practices and/or clinics.
  • Serves as a liaison between the practices and/or clinics and Health Services, Navicent Health/Medical Center, Navicent Health/Navicent Health System leaders communicating pertinent information to the physicians and staff in an effective, efficient, timely, and professional manner.
  • Coordinates all physician sponsored events within the community. 
  • Supports the corporate service excellence programs to continuously improve employee and patient satisfaction ratings and address comments.
  • Effectively participates in special projects as assigned.

Licensure, Registration, and/or Certification Required:

  • ​​​​​​​​​None required.

Education Required:

  • ​​​​​Bachelor’s degree in Healthcare Administration, Business Administration or healthcare related field strongly preferred or five years progressive physician practice supervisory and management experience.   

Experience Required:

  • Three years of relevant experience in physician practice, hospital clinic, healthcare management office, or physician billing and reimbursement position required.    

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:

  • Approximately 90 days on the job training to become independently functional.  Must demonstrate an above average knowledge of physician practice operations, fiscal management of physician practices, and regulatory compliance issues in physician practices. Excellent organization skills must be demonstrated to management clinical and business operations.  Effective time management and delegation skills are necessary.  Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, are necessary to maintain effective relationships with physicians, staff, patients, and other health system employees. Skills in exercising initiative, judgment, discretion, problem solving, and decision making are required to achieve organizational objectives.  Must have a working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

  • Must be able to use visual acuity to see monitor screen, computer and hard copy materials.  Must be able to hear and verbally communicate in person and over the phone or radio. Must be able to sit for prolonged periods of time (up to 2 hours).  Must be able to comprehend and learn operation of various office equipment.  Must have functional range of motion of the cervical, thoracic and lumbar spines, upper and lower extremities with a grip strength of 50-60# specific to job evaluation.  Must be able to forward reach, overhead reach, bend, squat, kneel and apply proper body mechanics during the transfers and transport supplies and/or equipment using proper body mechanics. Must be able to lift up to 10# specific to job evaluation.
  • Works in hospital, clinical and/or assistive living, office indoor environments. Must be able to remain calm under emergency situations. Must be able to utilize appropriate universal and specific precautions for protection from potential exposure infectious or communicable diseases.  Tolerate high noise, busy atmospheres and noxious odors.
