Overview
AtkinsRéalis are currently looking for the Health & Safety Inspector is responsible for monitoring and enforcing health and safety standards across project sites and operational areas to ensure a safe working environment. The role involves conducting regular inspections, identifying hazards, verifying compliance with regulatory and client requirements, and supporting the implementation of safety initiatives.
Your role
- Conduct routine site inspections to identify unsafe acts, unsafe conditions, and potential hazards.
- Ensure compliance with company health and safety policies, project requirements, and applicable regulations.
- Monitor day-to-day site activities to verify adherence to approved safety procedures and work methods.
- Inspect work areas, equipment, tools, and machinery to ensure safe operation and compliance.
- Verify proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) by all site personnel.
- Participate in risk assessments and support the implementation of control measures.
- Monitor high-risk activities such as working at height, lifting operations, excavation, confined space entry, and hot work.
- Assist in investigating accidents, incidents, near misses, and safety observations.
- Maintain records of inspections, observations, corrective actions, and safety reports.
- Conduct safety inductions and support toolbox talks and safety awareness campaigns.
- Ensure permit-to-work systems are implemented and followed correctly.
- Follow up on corrective and preventive actions to ensure timely closure.
- Report health and safety concerns and non-conformances to site management.
- Support emergency response drills and emergency preparedness activities.
- Coordinate with supervisors, contractors, and workers to promote safe working practices.
- Monitor housekeeping standards to ensure a clean and safe work environment.
- Assist in preparing health and safety statistics, reports, and compliance documentation.
About you
- Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Engineering, Environmental Science, or a related field.
- Minimum 5+ years of Health & Safety inspection experience, preferably on construction, infrastructure, or industrial projects.
- Strong knowledge of occupational health and safety principles and practices.
- Familiarity with Saudi Arabian health and safety regulations and industry standards.
- NEBOSH IGC, IOSH Managing Safely, OSHA, or equivalent health and safety certification preferred.
- Experience conducting site inspections, audits, and hazard identification activities.
- Knowledge of risk assessment and incident reporting procedures.
- Understanding of permit-to-work systems and high-risk construction activities.
- Ability to identify unsafe conditions and recommend effective corrective actions.
- Strong observation, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and report preparation.
- Ability to work effectively in a multicultural environment.
- Fluency in English is required; Arabic language skills are an advantage.
- Willingness to travel to project sites and work in field-based environments as required.
