Overview

As part of the national geomatics team, you will contribute to the production, maintenance, and quality control of environmental geospatial data for the ALTO project. Working with GIS analysts and multidisciplinary teams, you will perform repeatable quality checks, correct datasets, maintain metadata, document quality results, and produce standardized maps.

Your role

• Produce, update, structure, and correct environmental geospatial data in project geodatabases.
• Perform repeatable quality checks covering completeness, attributes, geometry, topology, coordinate systems, and compliance with standards.
• Identify, log, and correct anomalies; track validation results and corrective actions.
• Create, update, and verify metadata in accordance with governance procedures and project requirements.
• Integrate, clean, georeference, and standardize data from multiple sources, including environmental and field teams.
• Produce standardized technical and thematic maps for environmental studies, monitoring activities, and deliverables.
• Apply established naming conventions, data structures, filing procedures, and document-control rules.
• Work with GIS analysts to investigate significant data issues and prepare the information required for resolution.
• Document methods, completed checks, and quality-control results clearly and traceably.

About you

• College diploma in Geomatics, Cartography, GIS, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• A minimum of three years of relevant experience is required in GIS data production, geodatabase maintenance, metadata, topology, and quality control.
• Experience on environmental, infrastructure, or multidisciplinary projects is considered a strong asset.
• Knowledge of ArcGIS Online or ArcGIS Enterprise and proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Word.
• Knowledge of FME, Python, or automated quality-control processes is considered an asset.
• Good knowledge of key public datasets in Ontario and Quebec, their official sources, structures, and limitations of use, with the ability to locate, assess, integrate, and verify their quality.
• Good understanding of topology rules, coordinate systems, metadata, and geospatial data quality assurance and quality control principles.
• Strong proficiency with ArcGIS Pro, including editing, validation, geoprocessing, and geodatabase management functions.
• Ability to produce clear, structured, and traceable documentation and maps that comply with established templates and standards.
• Ability to identify, document, and correct anomalies methodically.
• Ability to communicate quality-control results clearly and request validation when needed.
• Thoroughness and attention to detail when applying repetitive validation rules.
• Independence, organizational skills, and respect for procedures, priorities, and schedules.
• Strong collaboration skills with GIS, environmental, and multidisciplinary teams.
• Proficiency in English or French; English-French bilingualism is a strong asset because of collaboration with teams in Quebec and elsewhere in Canada.*

* This position requires knowledge of a language other than French, namely English, as it involves collaboration with members of the Canadian or global leadership team located outside Québec.

Expected compensation for this role is between Pay Range $55 000 - $78 0000 annually. Base salaries are determined according to several parameters like skills, experience, and potential impact on the role. Internal and external competitiveness are also taken into account in our offers.
