We are recruiting for an Indigenous Business Engagement Manager where your experience can translate into real opportunities for communities across Australia.

About the role

Help create stronger pathways for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander businesses to connect and grow with Bunnings.

As our Indigenous Business Engagement Manager, you’ll bring together community relationships, commercial thinking and procurement expertise to strengthen Indigenous business participation across Bunnings. You’ll work closely with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, Traditional Owners, Indigenous businesses, organisations and internal teams to turn shared priorities into practical opportunities.

This is a role where trusted relationships matter. You’ll have the space to listen, influence and shape initiatives that deliver meaningful outcomes for community and business. What’s involved

You’ll have the opportunity to:

• Build and maintain trusted relationships with Traditional Owners, Elders, Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisations, Indigenous businesses and industry partners
• Develop and deliver engagement plans that reflect community priorities and Bunnings’ commitments
• Work alongside internal teams to identify opportunities for Indigenous suppliers
• Support supplier engagement, capability-building and business development initiatives
• Connect community, business and procurement stakeholders in a thoughtful and culturally safe way
• Provide practical advice to leaders and project teams on cultural protocols, engagement approaches, communications and risk
• Represent Bunnings at community events, forums and industry working groups
• Track outcomes and use insights, feedback and commercial data to improve our approach
• Share knowledge across Bunnings and help team members build confidence in respectful engagement

You’ll be supported by a collaborative network across First Nations Affairs, procurement, merchandise, legal, communications and People & Culture. It’s an environment focused on Inspiring you to give it a red-hot go, while giving you the trust to apply your knowledge and judgement.

About You

You bring strong lived experience and a demonstrated understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, cultures and communities. You’ve established genuine community relationships.

You’re comfortable moving between community and commercial settings and can navigate nuanced conversations with care. You bring sound judgement, strong communication skills and the ability to connect people with different perspectives around a shared outcome.

While procurement knowledge is important, we’re particularly interested in your community engagement, cultural understanding and ability to build lasting partnerships. You also bring a practical, commercially minded approach and enjoy working with others to turn ideas into measurable outcomes.

What you’ll need

• Demonstrated lived experience and understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities and cultural protocols
• Established experience building trusted relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, organisations and businesses
• Five+ years of professional experience in community engagement, business, procurement, supplier development or a related field
• Ideally, two to three years of procurement, sourcing or supplier engagement experience
• Understanding of Indigenous procurement, social procurement and the Indigenous business sector
• Strong commercial and financial acumen
• Excellent stakeholder, facilitation, negotiation and relationship management skills
• Clear and effective written and verbal communication
• Ability to work independently and manage competing priorities in a complex environment
• A current driver licence and flexibility to travel to community locations when required
