Job Description:
We’re KSM, one of the top 50 largest independent advisory, tax, and audit firms in the United States. But more than our size, it’s our people and culture that set us apart. We believe great things happen when people are supported, challenged, and given the freedom to do their very best work. That’s why we’ve built a workplace where your career and personal life can thrive together – where you have the flexibility to manage your time, the resources to grow, and a team that genuinely cares about your success.
We’ve been employee-owned since 2001, giving every team member a stake in our collective success. This ownership mentality fosters a culture of collaboration, curiosity, and excellence – where new ideas are welcomed, different perspectives are valued, and you’re encouraged to explore what excites you most. Whether you’re expanding your skills, tackling new challenges, or making an impact beyond the office, we provide the resources and support to help you grow in the direction that’s right for you.
At KSM, your contributions matter – not just to the firm, but to your colleagues, clients, and the communities we serve across the U.S. If you’re looking for a place where you can do meaningful work, build lasting relationships, and grow in ways that align with what’s most important to you, we’d love to meet you.
Position Summary:
Katz, Sapper & Miller (KSM) is seeking a Director of AI & Automation to lead a new pillar within our growing Intelligent Technology Services (ITS) practice. This role owns the strategy, growth, and delivery of KSM’s AI & automation services — helping clients strengthen their data foundations, implement intelligent business workflows, and continuously improve the value those solutions deliver.
As a Director, you will build on trusted client relationships to solve well-defined business problems, lead engagements from discovery through production, and shape the service offerings, standards, and partnerships that allow the pillar to scale. The position carries accountability for engagement quality, delivery economics, and client outcomes, along with the opportunity to build and develop the team delivering the work.
This is a highly visible, entrepreneurial role for someone who wants to build a practice — not just run one — with exposure to a wide variety of industries, technologies, and client challenges.
Responsibilities:
- Lead end-to-end AI, automation, and data engagements with accountability for delivery quality, timelines, budgets, and client outcomes.
- Partner with client executives to identify business needs, shape solution direction, and translate objectives into production-ready solutions.
- Drive measurable client value by prioritizing outcomes such as time, throughput, and revenue, with measurement built into delivery.
- Provide solution leadership across AI, automation, and modern data architectures, ensuring production workflows include appropriate governance, evaluation, and support practices.
- Ensure data governance, security, access management, and compliance considerations are incorporated into solution design and delivery.
- Build and scale the practice through the development of service offerings, delivery standards, reusable assets, and internal enablement.
- Develop and execute the practice’s go-to-market strategy in collaboration with Marketing and firm stakeholders.
- Lead the sales cycle for AI, automation, and data opportunities, from discovery and solution development through estimation, proposal development, and scoping.
- Manage strategic technology partner relationships and inform platform selection based on client demand, interoperability, economics, and risk.
- Advance ITS growth by identifying cross-practice opportunities and coordinating delivery with other service leaders.
- Serve as a visible thought leader by contributing client and market insights and supporting marketing and firmwide sales efforts.
- Lead, mentor, and develop team members and delivery partners, with ownership of performance management, coaching, and career development.
Requirements/Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Data and Analytics, Engineering, Business, or a related field.
- Twelve or more years of progressive experience in data, analytics, AI, automation, or technology consulting delivery, preferably within consulting or professional services.
- Demonstrated experience leading end-to-end AI, automation, or data engagements with accountability for quality, timelines, budgets, and client outcomes.
- Experience building or scaling a practice or service line, including service offering development, pricing, and delivery economics.
- Experience leading go-to-market execution that converts client relationships and referrals into paid engagements.
- Experience placing AI, automation, or data solutions into production, including governance, evaluation, adoption, and ongoing support considerations.
- Working knowledge of enterprise AI and data platforms, and the ability to evaluate platform tradeoffs objectively.
- Experience developing client relationships and managing executive communication, including proactive management of delivery risks and issues.
- Experience leading, mentoring, and developing professionals, including responsibility for performance management and career development.
- Relevant certifications in AI, cloud platforms, data platforms, automation, or data governance are beneficial but not required.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to synthesize complex findings clearly for executive audiences.
