Description
Environmental Compliance Consultants, Inc. (ECC) offers an excellent opportunity to build a long-term career in environmental and industrial services with stable, full-time, year-round employment in Alaska. Unlike many similar positions in Alaska, ECC provides consistent work throughout the year, including the winter months. With more than 27 years in the industry, we serve commercial, municipal, state, and federal clients, including the Department of Defense and Department of Veterans Affairs.
About the Position
ECC is seeking a dependable, safety-minded Environmental Technician / CDL Driver to join our North Pole, AK team.
This is primarily a hands-on Environmental Technician position, not a traditional truck-driving job. Commercial driving typically accounts for approximately 25% of the position, with the majority of time spent performing environmental and industrial services, equipment operation, material handling, and general facility support.
This is a stable, year-round position offering a variety of work throughout Alaska's changing seasons. From summer operations to the challenges of Alaska winters, our team remains active year-round, providing essential services to our customers.
The position involves operating vacuum trucks and other commercial vehicles, cleaning and maintaining industrial systems such as oil-water separators and grease traps, managing hazardous and non-hazardous materials, and supporting a variety of environmental service projects.
We're looking for someone who enjoys hands-on work, takes pride in doing the job safely and correctly, and is willing to step in wherever needed. Daily assignments may vary, and flexibility, teamwork, and a strong work ethic are essential.
This is an active, physically demanding position involving indoor and outdoor work throughout the year. Some assignments may require confined space entry and occasional respirator use.
Requirements
Key Responsibilities
- Environmental and Industrial Services: vacuum truck operations, fluid pumping, maintenance of oil-water separators and grease traps, spill response, and other environmental service activities.
- Commercial Vehicle and Equipment Operation: Safely operate vacuum trucks, tankers, box trucks, stake-bed trucks, forklifts, pumps, and other equipment as needed. Commercial driving is primarily local.
- Material and Waste Handling: Collect, handle, package, load, secure, transport, and manage hazardous and non-hazardous materials in accordance with applicable regulations and procedures.
- Confined Space and Specialized Work: Participate in confined space entry and industrial cleaning activities while following required safety procedures and using appropriate personal protective equipment, including respirators when necessary.
- Warehouse and Facility Support: Assist with warehouse operations, material movement, equipment maintenance, snow removal, general labor, housekeeping, and other operational needs.
- Inspections and Documentation: Conduct routine vehicle, equipment, and container inspections; maintain accurate records; and complete required operational and compliance documentation.
- Safety and Compliance: Follow all company safety programs, DOT requirements, and applicable environmental regulations. Recognize hazards and actively contribute to a safe workplace.
- Teamwork and Customer Service: Work cooperatively with teammates, supervisors, and customers. Adapt to changing assignments, assist with varying job functions, and complete tasks with minimal supervision when appropriate.

- Clean driving record and ability to meet ECC's commercial vehicle insurance carrier requirements for insurability.
- Ability to meet and maintain DOT medical certification and applicable occupational health examination requirements.
- Ability to safely perform physically demanding work, including lifting, bending, climbing, working in confined spaces, and performing manual labor in varying weather conditions.
