Introduction

Started in 2006, Building Tomorrow supports community-powered learning in rural areas. Through over 500 Building Tomorrow Fellows and over 26,000 Community Education Volunteers, Building Tomorrow has enrolled over 272,000 out-of-school children and reached more than 1,000,000 learners with our signature Roots to Rise (R2R) literacy and numeracy camps.

For two-year deployments, Fellows live in rural Uganda and mobilize communities around education by recruiting and training Community Education Volunteers, enrolling out-of-school children in school, and advocating for quality and inclusive education. Fellows represent Building Tomorrow in rural communities and act as community mobilizers and system enablers to ensure all children can read, write, and do basic math.

We are recruiting our Cohort 12 fellows, young, ambitious, and creative leaders, to help support learning in rural districts of Uganda. If you hold a University Degree or an equivalent from a Primary Teachers' College, and are passionate about improving primary education outcomes, then this is for you. The Building Tomorrow Fellows program is highly selective. It offers young leaders the opportunity to practice and hone skills in leadership whilst supporting improvement in rural schools over a period of 2 years. You must meet the following qualifications:

1. Must be a graduate of a Ugandan University. Candidates with an education background are highly encouraged to apply.
2. Must possess a valid Ugandan National ID.
3. Must be 25 years old or younger.
4. Must not be more than two years post-graduation from the university.
5. Must be able to commit to one and a half months of pre-service training.
6. Commit to completing 24 months with full compliance with Building Tomorrow's code of conduct and organizational policies.
7. Passionate about community development with a desire to create social impact at scale.
8. Should be fluent in Runyoro and Luganda.
9. Willing to operate in Buliisa, Kiryandongo, Hoima, Masindi, Kikuube, Kagadi, Kakumiro, Kibaale, and Mityana.
10. Strong communication, leadership skills, and a high degree of emotional intelligence
11. Computer literate and competent in Microsoft Office essentials.
12. Holds a valid motorcycle permit and is able to navigate rural terrain.
