Campus Planner/Space Planning Analyst

Position Overview 

Ayers Saint Gross is looking for an individual to fill a hybrid role as a Campus Planner/Space Planning Analyst to join our higher education planning effort. As a member of the planning and strategy team, you will work collaboratively to provide quality planning and design solutions for our clients. Projects typically overlap the disciplines of planning, architecture, urban design, landscape architecture, and graphic design, and staff are usually working on more than one project at a time. This position can be based out of either our Baltimore, Maryland or Washington, DC office location for local candidates. For the right candidate, we will consider the opportunity for remote work options elsewhere in the Mid-Atlantic region.

The ideal candidate is an energetic professional with a superb work ethic and a desire to learn. This individual is a team player, self-starter, and results-oriented individual. They will work with multi-disciplinary teams on a wide range of project types including master planning, space programming, space strategy, feasibility studies, and urban design at multiple scales (city/site/building). Additionally, they should have an interest in higher education, cultural institutions, and the opportunities and challenges they face today. 

Responsibilities 

• Analyze and visualize quantitative and qualitative data to inform planning and identify potential solutions 
• Create and present visual content through graphics and renderings, as well as written reports that convey analysis findings 
• Plan and facilitate stakeholder interviews, client workshops, and other engagement activities 
• Lead the analytics effort on interdisciplinary projects and work collaboratively with clients, analysts, campus planners, architects, and consultants 
• Set and apply space metrics 
• Translate program needs to building test fits 
• Build presentations in PowerPoint and reports in InDesign for space needs assessments and campus master planning  
• GIS mapping of space and campus systems  
• Develop building and space programs 
• Participate in space audits 
• Support project management and project coordination as needed   
• Contribute to business planning, process improvement, methodology and content development, and technology tool development 
• Support business development efforts through participation in project pursuits, relationship management, and thought leadership 
• Remain well informed of higher education research, trends, and issues 

Requirements

• Bachelor’s (required) or Master’s (preferred) degree in combination of Architecture (preferred), Landscape Architecture, Planning, and/or Urban Design. 
• 3+ years of experience in space/facilities planning 
• Knowledge of the higher education enterprise and topics that influence physical space needs. Prior experience working for a consulting or architecture firm or an institution of higher education is a plus. 
• Excellent oral communication, organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to work across multiple teams with minimal supervision 
• Ability to synthesize complex information and communicate findings for a variety of audiences 
• Outstanding skill with Adobe Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign) and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), AutoCAD, SketchUp, Rhino and/or 3D Studio Max. 
• Basic Revit and BIM knowledge and capabilities preferred. 
• Strong GIS understanding and capabilities. 
• Must be able to travel approximately 25-50% of the time

The salary range for this position is $75,000-95,000 annually. The actual offered salary for this position will vary depending on multiple factors including the candidate’s qualification, education, position knowledge, work experience, skills, ability, work location, and internal incumbent compensation for similar roles. We do not anticipate individuals hired into this position will start at or near the top half of the range listed; the decision will be based on each individual case. The salary range listed above does not include other compensation elements such as discretionary bonus opportunities, employee stock ownership grants, paid time off, medical insurance, and other wage and benefit opportunities.
