Job Description Summary
This management position is part of the US Information Reporting and Withholding Team within the Transamerica Corporate Finance Department which provides centralized services and support to the organization. This group focuses on establishing and maintaining organizational processes for US information return reporting and ensures Federal, State and Local income tax withholding is performed and remitted in accordance with Internal Revenue Code, State and Local regulatory agencies.Job Description
Responsibilities
- Manage activities of assigned team including supervisors and/or individual contributors.
- Adapt department plans to address resource and operational challenges. Operates mostly within their own function but participates in cross-functional initiatives.
- Understand and communicate directives from senior management.
- Review, analyze and interpret new IRS information reporting and withholding tax guidance (e.g., law, regulations, and rulings) and partner with designated lines of business to determine the impact of such guidance on their products and procedures.
- Monitor designated lines of businesses new products/transactions and ensure that they understand how the current Information Reporting & Withholding group rules should be applied.
- Collaborate with business and operations areas on a regular basis to ensure a continued understanding of the Information Reporting & Withholding requirements and resolve compliance issues.
- Prepare and present trainings.
- Research and respond to internal day-to-day questions from lines of businesses (e.g., questions regarding tax documentation, client types, payment source and character, requirements related to complex transactions and structures, etc.)
- Provide guidance to the lines of business on year-end tax reporting with respect to Forms 1099, 1098, 1042-S filings.
- Identify potential tax compliance issues/errors and escalate appropriately.
- Effectively manages multiple projects and deadlines and resolves conflicting priorities.
- Review, design and implement process and control improvements in area of expertise.
- Influence and lead a team in a way which aligns and promotes their given department’s strategy and values.
Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in accounting or equivalent work experience. Generally 8 years of professional experience in tax, accounting, or equivalent area. Requires working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel), on-line research software (RIA, Westlaw), applicable tax and/or accounting software systems.
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of assigned business area (for example, accounting, information reporting, investments, corporate finance).
- Strong people management skills.

The Salary for this position generally ranges between $111,000-$132,000 annually. This range is an estimate, based on potential qualifications and operational needs. Salary may vary above and below the stated amounts, as permitted by applicable law.
Additionally, this position is typically eligible for an Annual Bonus based on the Company Bonus Plan/Individual Performance and is at Company discretion.
