Senior Credit Analyst, AVP (Hybrid)

This is an opportunity to join Citi's independent Credit Risk Review team — a function that delivers direct assurance to the Board of Directors, senior risk leadership, and global regulators on the effectiveness of credit risk management across the firm's global portfolio. As a Senior Credit Risk Analyst, you will conduct rigorous credit analysis, monitor portfolio risk trends, and apply data analytics and AI-enabled tools to surface emerging risks before they materialise. You will work closely with Lead Reviewers on high-impact credit reviews, gaining broad exposure across corporate and financial institution portfolios at one of the world's largest global banks.

 

Responsibilities

• Assess the accuracy and integrity of credit analyses, exposure calculations, risk rating methodologies, and asset classifications across monitored portfolios to ensure alignment with institutional standards.
• Partner with Lead Reviewers to produce comprehensive Credit Assessment Documents, integrating quantitative data analytics to substantiate portfolio conclusions or flag thematic risk concentrations.
• Analyse financial statements and review underwriting processes, approved credit memos, and covenant compliance to track credit quality across the full lifecycle from origination through to workout and remediation.
• Apply AI and machine learning tools to streamline data extraction, identify risk patterns across diverse portfolios, and proactively surface emerging credit risk indicators.
• Translate qualitative risk observations into data-backed evidence, enabling Lead Reviewers to draw clear and defensible conclusions on portfolio health.
• Synthesise complex analytical findings into clear, concise presentations for senior risk management and internal governance committees.
• Contribute to regulatory examination materials and reporting deliverables, ensuring outputs meet the standards expected by global regulators and internal oversight bodies.

 

Required qualifications & skills

• A minimum of 3–6 years of credit analysis or credit risk management experience within a global financial institution or banking environment, with candidates holding 3 or more years of experience equally welcomed.
• Formal credit training or a thorough understanding of financial accounting standards and credit analysis methodologies.
• Demonstrated ability to analyse financial statements and evaluate the creditworthiness of corporate or institutional borrowers.
• High proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, PowerPoint, and Word, with a strong aptitude for AI-enabled productivity and data analytics tools.
• Exceptional organisational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple concurrent deliverables and maintain meticulous attention to detail.
• Clear and effective written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex credit risk concepts to varied levels of management.
• A bachelor's degree in Economics, Finance, Accounting, or a related quantitative discipline.

 

Beneficial skills & qualifications

• Prior experience specifically assessing the creditworthiness and financial strength of corporates and financial institutions.
• Working knowledge of Python applied to data extraction, analysis, or automation in a financial or risk context.
• An advanced degree such as an MBA or MS in Finance, or a professional qualification such as CFA, FRM, or CPA.
