What You’ll Be Part Of
As a Data Governance Professional, you will play a hands-on role in establishing and strengthening data governance practices across HARMAN Lifestyle. You will work closely with business leaders, Data & Analytics, Digital, SAP, Data Engineering, and Enterprise Technology teams to improve data ownership, stewardship, metadata management, data lineage, and data quality across key business domains. You will contribute to building a scalable and trusted enterprise data foundation that enables business transformation, analytics, and AI initiatives. This role is ideal for a professional who can effectively translate data governance strategy into practical execution and drive measurable improvements in data quality, consistency, and trust across the organization.
How You’ll Make An Impact
Define and operationalize Data Governance and Data Quality frameworks, standards, policies, operating models, and decision forums that establish clear and sustainable governance practices across HARMAN Lifestyle.
Establish Data Owner and Data Steward roles, decision rights, and accountability, and lead recurring governance reviews, issue triage, and remediation activities to ensure data issues progress toward resolution.
Build and mature the business glossary, enterprise data catalog, metadata, Critical Data Elements (CDEs), classifications, and end-to-end data lineage using Microsoft Purview, enabling teams to better understand and trust enterprise data.
Own the end-to-end data quality lifecycle—from profiling and rule definition through monitoring, remediation, and continuous improvement—including quality rules, thresholds, acceptance criteria, SLAs, and exception handling.
Partner with business owners, data stewards, data engineering, and platform teams to implement automated data quality controls, monitoring, alerting, scorecards, and trend analytics using Microsoft Fabric and related data platforms.
Improve governance and data quality for Customer, Supplier, Material, Finance, and Reference Data, including SAP master and transactional data, to increase the reliability of information used in business operations and decision-making.
Drive adoption of governance and data quality practices through playbooks, training, communications, governance forums, and measurable KPIs, while applying AI-assisted capabilities, where appropriate, to improve profiling, anomaly detection, duplicate detection, rule recommendations, and remediation.
What Makes You A Strong Fit
Overall 12+ years of experience, with strong knowledge of Data Governance and Data Quality practices, including data ownership, stewardship, Critical Data Elements (CDEs), business glossaries, metadata, catalogs, lineage, and attribute-level data quality controls.
Ability to design and operationalize practical governance and data quality operating models, including rule lifecycle management, monitoring, issue remediation, decision forums, and measurable reporting.
Hands-on experience with Microsoft Purview or similar governance platforms for data cataloging, metadata, lineage, classifications, ownership, stewardship, and trusted data visibility.
Ability to define data quality dimensions, rules, thresholds, SLAs, dashboards, and scorecards, and connect data quality issues to measurable business impact and risk.
Strong understanding of modern data platforms, ETL/ELT pipelines, APIs, and common data quality failure patterns, with the ability to work effectively with data engineering and platform teams.
Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to establish accountability and influence business owners, data stewards, and technical teams across a global, matrixed organization.
A hands-on, outcome-oriented leadership approach, with the ability to analyze data quality patterns, document definitions and controls, resolve issues, and drive sustained improvement without relying solely on formal authority.
We see AI as an important part of how work gets done. While tools may vary, a baseline familiarity with using AI to support efficiency, problem-solving, and quality is expected.
Bonus Points if You Have
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Information Systems, Data Management, or a related field.
Experience with Microsoft Fabric for data quality rule execution, monitoring, trend analytics, dashboards, and automated alerting.
Experience with SAP S/4HANA and SAP MDG across Customer, Supplier, Material, and Finance master data, particularly in large-scale ERP or data transformation programs.
Experience applying AI or machine learning techniques to data profiling, anomaly detection, rule recommendations, duplicate detection, entity resolution, or root-cause analysis.
Familiarity with DAMA-DMBOK practices, data privacy and compliance requirements, and governance of data used by analytics, BI, and Generative AI solutions.
Experience working across modern enterprise data ecosystems that may include Azure, Snowflake, Power BI, SAP Datasphere, semantic models, or federated Data Governance operating models.
