Job Description:

 Johnson & Johnson's MedTech surgery team at MONARCH is recruiting for a Manufacturing Engineering Manager – Systems, Electronics & Test Fixtures within our Robotics & Digital Solutions (RAD) organization. They will lead a team of engineers while also serving as an individual contributing leader for sophisticated electronics, PCB/PCBA, test equipment, and electromechanical fixture challenges. Our MedTech team is working to solve pressing healthcare challenges through innovations at the intersection of biology and technology. The MedTech Surgery organization was recently established to combine our best-in-class surgical portfolio with the Robotics & Digital portfolio.

Key Role Responsibilities

• Provide day-to-day leadership, coaching, prioritization, accountability, and team development.
• Drive accountability around ownership, communication, documentation quality, and execution.
• Balance workload across team members and ensure resources are aligned to priorities.
• Promote an environment where teamwork, technical rigor, and continuous improvement excel.
• Provide practical technical guidance to engineers and technicians during design, troubleshooting, validation, and production activities.
• Lead execution of Systems Manufacturing deliverables across NPI, sustaining programs, validation, reliability testing, repair, rework, and production support aligned to program priorities.
• Drive completion of manufacturing documentation, MPIs, rework instructions, test procedures, validations, and process updates.
• Ensure fixtures are designed for manufacturability, serviceability, usability, safety, reliability, and long-term production support.
• See opportunities to replace costly or obsolete components with improved alternatives while maintaining quality and compliance.
• Partner closely with R&D, Quality, Manufacturing, Service, OPM, PMO, Supplier Quality, and other partners to ensure manufacturing and capital equipment requirements are represented early.
• Communicate project status and risk clearly and regularly to leadership and cross-functional partners.
• Ensure team documentation is complete, accurate, clear, and audit-ready before review or release.
• Build strong teams through trust and mentorship.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives that reduce unplanned rework, improve manufacturing readiness, and increase execution efficiency.
• Promote knowledge-sharing and cross-training of team members to reduce single-point dependencies and improve overall team capability.
• Design & improve upon existing PCB/PCBA, electronics, wiring, harnessing, sensors, controllers, and electromechanical fixtures.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Electrical, Mechanical, Mechatronics, Biomedical Engineering degree; advanced degree in a relevant engineering field.
• Minimum of 10+ years of relevant professional experience.
• Minimum of 2+ years of work experience as a people leader developing teams is required.
• Experience in manufacturing engineering, systems engineering, equipment engineering, test engineering, electrical engineering, or related technical operations.
• Strong hands-on technical background in electronics, PCBA, electromechanical systems, or manufacturing test equipment.
• Ability to read and interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, PCB layouts, test procedures, and equipment documentation.
• Proven track record to tackle sophisticated technical issues and drive practical solutions.
• Experience leading technical contributors, project teams, or cross-functional initiatives.
• Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, validation, documentation control, quality systems, and regulated product environments.
• Strong communication, prioritization, problem-solving, and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to balance people management responsibilities with direct hands-on technical contribution.
• Demonstrate Credo based leadership.
• Knowledge of good manufacturing practices and documentation for production processes.
• Statistical Process Control (SPC) knowledge and management of statistical procedures.
• Excellent knowledge in Quality system, QSIT and FDA guidelines, 21CFR 820, 21 CFR Parts 210 and 211, ISO 13485, ISO 14971 and relevant guidance preferred.
• Excellent verbal and written communication.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office, SAP, Jira, Minitab.
• Comprehension of standard costs and work standards management in SAP (ERP Systems).

Preferred Qualifications

• Master’s degree, PhD or equivalent experience in relevant Engineering field.
• Experience in medical device manufacturing or another regulated industry.
• Experience with capital equipment, robotic systems, test equipment, repair/rework processes, or system-level manufacturing.
• Experience designing, upgrading, modifying, or sustaining electromechanical manufacturing fixtures and test equipment.
• Experience with board-level modifications, PCBA, electronics upgrades, and test development.
• Solid understanding of sensors, motors, power supplies, controllers, cabling, harnesses, pneumatic systems, data acquisition, and fixture automation.
• Familiarity with systems such as ETQ, Agile, Box, Maximo, or similar quality and documentation platforms.

The anticipated base pay range for this position is :

$118,000.00 to $179,655.00
