Overview

The Assistant Banquet Manager coordinates and assists with all Food and Beverage service activities in the Banquet department to achieve customer satisfaction, quality service and compliance with corporate/ brand policies and procedures while meeting/exceeding financial goals. He or she will collaborate with the Catering and Convention Services teams to seamlessly execute Banquet Event Orders and generate revenue while providing flawless guest experiences.   This position is responsible for supporting the needs of the Banquet Department’s daily planning; both short and long term and for suggesting procedural changes for business, Associates and or Guest improvements. The Assistant Banquet Manager is responsible for implementing departmental budget constraints and daily compliance with the business and operating plans. S/he promotes Associate engagement, retention, and development through effective and engaging leadership of Food and Beverage Associates.

Responsibilities

• Support a culture that promotes effective communications, service excellence, teamwork, performance feedback, recognition, mutual respect, and Associate satisfaction
• Train, retain, mentor, motivate, and supervise the work of the banquet team.
• Engage in Associate coaching, performance management, talent development, evaluation, and succession planning. Ensure compliance with corporate or brand training requirements and initiatives
• Ensure guest satisfaction through oversight to the BEO process from inception to Post-Con, compliance with the business and operating plans and excellence in communication with internal partners and direct guest communication. Delivers on guest requests and resolves guest complaints; creating a “Wow” experience. Regularly reviews guest comments to identify trends and provide resolutions
• Practices responsible financial management of assigned assets. Works with manager to completes daily budget review for: labor costs, beverage costs, supplies and equipment
• Responsible for accurate and timely posting of banquet checks, completion of gratuity documents and closing paperwork. Also, responsible for coordination with Accounting for communication of information and responding to queries or audits
• Reviews internal reports to include: occupancy forecasts, night audit summary, payroll edits, man-hour and payroll reports, productivity results from the prior day, operating checkbook accounts and schedules
• Ensure all assigned assets are properly maintained and protected; through completing property walks, coordinating RFR schedules, collaborating with Engineering for execution of the preventative maintenance program, responding to corporate and brand QAs.

Qualifications

• Three (3) years or more experience in High Volume Restaurant Business;Broad knowledge of Restaurant / Banquet Industry
• Possess good leadership and organizational skills
• Be proficient in Word and Excel

Experience

• Experience in Corporate atmosphere a plus

Experience

• Ability to make decisions which are generally guided by established policy and procedures.
• Excellent English verbal and written communication
• Prior experience as a property level Banquet Manager preferred.
• Experience with scheduling, PO processing, time cards calculations and expense control systems preferred.
• Degree in related area or equivalent of 3-5 years of experience in the field.
• Demonstrated computer skills.
• Knowledgeable with Delphi system and or optimal settings.
• Performed in an operation of $2 million in annual Banquet sales

Education

• Hospitality Degree preferred
