Physical Therapist

Mildred Mitchell-Bateman Hospital is seeking a dedicated full-time Physical Therapist to join our team!

The Physical Therapist is responsible for evaluating, planning, directing and administering physical therapy treatments/ modalities as prescribed by a licensed physician. This position administers treatments and exercises to assist patients with injuries or chronic health conditions to restore range of motion, managing pain. The Physical Therapist will develop and implement individualized physical rehabilitation care plans that align with the patient’s overall psychiatric treatment goals and behavioral constraints along with addressing physical symptoms commonly associated with serious mental illness and psychotropic medications, such as tremors, catatonia, extra pyramidal side effects, and metabolic changes therefore enhancing their quality of life.

This is a tobacco free facility.  Chosen applicants must successfully complete a chemical urinalysis and breath analysis drug and alcohol screening test.  All employees shall be subject to drug and alcohol testing for probable cause as set forth in Agency and Bureau policies.  Must be able to work holidays and weekends.  Mandatory overtime is an essential function of this position.  Candidates must successfully pass a background screening.  

Mildred Mitchell-Bateman Hospital, located in Huntington, West Virginia, is a 110-bed psychiatric hospital owned and operated by the West Virginia Department of Health Facilities. The hospital holds accreditation by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations and is certified by Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS). Through ongoing collaboration with Marshall University’s Department of Behavioral Medicine & Psychiatry, a variety of medical and clinical professionals partner with the hospital’s own staff to work diligently with patients to achieve a smooth transition back to the community after discharge.
