Job Summary:

The Registered Nurse (RN) provides comprehensive nursing care utilizing the nursing process to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care. The RN supervises and directs care provided by other nursing staff, ensures patient safety, delivers education to patients and families, and is accountable for the quality and coordination of care within the scope of practice.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

• May provide direction and supervision to licensed vocational nurses, graduate nurses, and unlicensed personnel

Duties/Responsibilities:

• Utilize the nursing process to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care
• Collect, analyze, and document patient health data and medical history
• Develop and update individualized patient care plans, including discharge planning and education
• Administer medications and IV therapies in accordance with policies and physician orders
• Monitor and document patient responses to treatments and interventions
• Provide direct and indirect patient care to promote comfort, safety, and well-being
• Communicate effectively with physicians and interdisciplinary team members regarding patient status
• Educate patients and families on health conditions, treatments, and discharge instructions
• Respond to emergencies in a prompt and professional manner
• Supervise, delegate, and evaluate care provided by other nursing personnel
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation in accordance with hospital policies
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives and performance evaluations
• Maintain a safe, clean, and therapeutic environment
• Follow infection control, safety, and risk management policies
• Participate in continuing education and professional development activities
• Maintain patient confidentiality and HIPAA compliance
• Provide professional, courteous, and timely customer service
• Perform other related duties to benefit the mission of the organization

Education and Experience:

• Associate Degree in Nursing required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred
• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in Texas
• BLS, ACLS, PALS or ENPC certifications required within 60 days of hire – AHA only
• One year of nursing experience preferred

Physical and Mental Requirements:

• Prolonged standing and walking (up to 80% of shift)
• Frequent bending, stooping, reaching, kneeling, and squatting
• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds and push/pull equipment
• Frequent use of hands and fingers for patient care and equipment operation
• Adequate vision and hearing for patient assessment and communication
• Ability to safely operate medical equipment and navigate facility areas
• Stress Level: Moderate to High
