Job SummaryThe Pediatrician is a licensed physician responsible for providing comprehensive medical care to infants, children, adolescents, and young adults. This role focuses on preventive healthcare, diagnosis and treatment of acute and chronic illnesses, monitoring growth and development, and promoting healthy lifestyles through patient and family education. The Pediatrician collaborates with a multidisciplinary care team to deliver high-quality, patient-centered care that supports the physical, emotional, and developmental well-being of pediatric patients.
Essential Functions & Responsibilities:
- Conduct routine wellness examinations, developmental screenings, and preventive care visits; monitor growth, nutrition, and developmental milestones; provide immunizations and educate families on health promotion, safety, and disease prevention.
- Diagnose and treat acute illnesses, injuries, and chronic medical conditions in pediatric patients.
- Order, perform, and interpret diagnostic tests and laboratory studies; prescribe medications and develop individualized treatment plans.
- Coordinate patient care with specialists, therapists, schools, community resources, and other healthcare professionals to ensure continuity of care.
- Other duties as assigned.
Education, Experience, and Qualifications
Required
- Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree from an accredited institution.
- Successful completion of an accredited Pediatric Residency Program.
- Demonstrated knowledge of pediatric preventive care, diagnosis, treatment, and disease management.
- Strong clinical assessment, diagnostic, and decision-making skills.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and patient advocacy skills.
Preferred
- Previous experience in an outpatient pediatric practice setting.
- Experience supervising or mentoring medical students, residents, or advanced practice providers.
- Bilingual language skills.
Licensure and Certifications
Required
- Current unrestricted Virginia medical license (or eligibility to obtain).
- Board Certified or Board Eligible in Pediatrics.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Current DEA registration and eligibility to prescribe controlled substances.
Preferred
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification.
Base Salary: $188,000. (0.8FTE-Part time)
