Senior Laboratory Specialist

We are currently looking for a Senior Laboratory Specialist to join our team in St. Gallen. Your main responsibilities will include the independent execution and documentation of syntheses and analytical tests; process development and production support for existing and new products; qualification and maintenance of laboratory equipment; compliance with technical, organizational and staff safety measures etc.

Key Tasks

• Independent synthesis, characterization and documentation of synthetic compounds (eg. complex iron compounds, ..) in lab and pilot scale

• Performing analytical method development

• Feedback to the laboratory manager in the event of unexpected observations during execution of experiments

• Performing qualification of laboratory equipment (execution and documentation)

• Carrying out work in accordance with cGMP regulations

• Maintaining laboratory quality systems and records of synthetic protocols and analytical results

• Apprenticeship education

• Following measures to protect health and the environment such as: prescribed in the safety organization INS020046SI

• Regular controlling of the status and utilization of staff protective gear support and usage of safety devices and protective equipment

• Inducting of new employees in the laboratory organization

• Organizing routine maintenance of laboratory equipment

• Requesting quotes for routine maintenance and new equipment

• Maintaining laboratory operations (eg. raw material and consumables, …)

• Subject matter expert for enquiries from external partners and for on-site inspections

• Creation and revision of laboratory test procedures

Your Profile

• Completed apprenticeship as a lab technician or comparable education with ≥ 3 years professional experience or

• Bachelor’s degree in chemistry or comparable education

• English and German oral and written

• Professional experience in scale-up of chemical processes

• Excellent computer skills (eg. MS Office, especially Excel; tiamoTM, PerkinElmer Signals Notebook)

• Creative thinking, curious about scientific and technical innovation

• Quick learner, adapting thinking to complex environments

• Experience in a cGMP environment
