The Core Drill Rig Operator will work as a liaison between quality control and Engineering. This position will collect core samples and data to support the team in development of mine plans and long-term development. The individual will compile data, report information and operate various equipment, such as but not limited to, drill rig, maintenance vehicles, skid steers and heavy equipment.

Essential Functions
  • Collect needed core samples and supply field logs
  • Operate ERI and process/forward data to Engineering Team
  • Maintain equipment in proper working condition and high level of cleanliness
  • Performs drilling activities necessary to obtain material samples and data for subsurface investigations
  • Perform the selection, set up, and dismantling of drilling location
  • Operates power control center from drilling station to raise and lower mast, install pipe, casing, core barrels and drill rods, govern speed of rotation, and bit penetration rate
  • Performs removal, packing, and identification of cores, and creates a geological logging of boring holes
  • Operates and maintains inventory, equipment, and vehicle records for drill rig, maintenance vehicles and heavy equipment
  • Back up for quality control technicians throughout Indiana
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Education Qualifications
  • Required High School or Equivalent

Skills and Abilities
  • Must maintain regular, dependable attendance and a high level of performance
  • Follow written and verbal directions to complete assigned tasks on schedule
  • Read, write, and communicate in English & understand basic math
  • Working knowledge of US Aggregates Safety and Operating principles
  • Complete all applicable documentation, recordkeeping, and daily inventory
  • Participate in safety briefings, job briefings, and any other pass on information from team members, management, or customer
  • Must be able to work with a team, take direction and follow work rules, as well as take on additional job responsibilities as needed or assigned
  • Flexibility required; ability to work days, nights, weekends
  • Perform all work in compliance with Company standards, procedures, and regulatory requirements
  • Must possess and exhibit excellent communication skills and the ability to work independently to get things done
  • Strong welding, torching, and maintenance skills preferred

Working Conditions/Physical Demands
  • Must have the ability to continuously stand or walk on level or uneven ground
  • Must have the ability to ascend and descend ladders, stairways and incline catwalks
  • Must have the ability to bend, crouch and/or kneel at the waist or knees
  • Must have the ability to lift, push, pull, or carry up to 75lbs
  • Ability to work outside the majority of the time and withstand extreme weather conditions. Exposure to hot, cold, wet, humid, or windy conditions caused by the weather
