Department Overview
The Motorola Solutions International Mobile Applications team creates mission-critical software solutions for emergency first responders across public safety agencies worldwide. Used by hundreds of thousands of police officers, firefighters, and paramedics every day, our applications directly enhance emergency service responses when every second counts.This role focuses on our software suite supporting UK Fire agencies. You will join a high-performing, distributed engineering squad of ~7 developers responsible for building sophisticated client, server, web, and database solutions.
Job Description
This is a fully remote role based anywhere in the United Kingdom. While you will work from home daily, you will be fully integrated into our collaborative engineering culture with optional access to our Centre of Excellence in Glasgow for occasional team gatherings.
What You’ll Do
Design, build, and maintain high-performing, fault-tolerant full-stack software applications for emergency services.
Write scalable, maintainable code using general-purpose languages such as C# or Java, alongside modern web frameworks.
Collaborate asynchronously and synchronously with cross-functional Agile team members (Product, QA, Architecture).
Drive system architecture improvements to guarantee zero-downtime reliability for emergency responders.
Basic Requirements
Education: Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
Experience: 5+ years of commercial software engineering experience across the full stack (front-end and back-end).
Technical Mastery: Deep understanding of object-oriented programming (Java or C#) and architectural design patterns for scalable applications.
Security Vetting: Must be eligible for Non-Police-Personnel-Vetting Level 3 (NPPV3) clearance (requires a minimum of 3 years continuous UK residency).
Desirable & Nice-to-Have Skills
Experience developing scalable server/gateway applications and client-server communication models.
Experience with modern web technologies (HTML5, CSS3, React).
Exposure to mobile (Android/iOS using Kotlin, Swift, or React Native) or Windows UI frameworks (WPF, WinUI).
Proven experience working in remote Agile (Scrum) engineering teams.
