Description
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Staff Engineer – Power IC Validation & Characterisation to lead the electrical validation and characterisation of next-generation Power ICs and Gate Driver products. This role combines deep technical expertise in semiconductor device characterisation with hands-on system-level validation, high-power hardware design, and automation development. You will be responsible for driving characterisation activities across multiple development programmes, ensuring robust correlation between bench measurements, reliability data, and production test requirements. The position requires strong analytical capability, practical laboratory expertise, and the ability to lead complex validation efforts in fast-paced product development environments. Your role Key responsibilities in your new role Lead IC-level characterisation (80%) and system-level validation (20%) activities for Power IC and Gate Driver product portfolios. Plan, execute, and oversee electrical characterisation and validation programmes throughout the product development lifecycle. Perform and analyse measurements of key static device parameters , including: RDS(on) Threshold Voltage (VTH) Breakdown Voltage Leakage Currents On-State Resistance Perform and analyse measurements of key dynamic device parameters , including: Switching Losses Gate Charge (Qg) Rise and Fall Times Dead Time Miller Plateau Behaviour Develop, optimise, and maintain test methodologies to ensure accurate, repeatable, and statistically relevant measurement results. Lead system-level validation activities to assess device performance in real-world application environments. Manage up to eight concurrent validation programmes , including four lead products and four derivative variants, while meeting aggressive three-month validation cycle milestones. Coordinate validation activities across multiple derivative products, including variants with different ohmic classes, configuration changes, and driver-switch combinations. Collaborate closely with design, product engineering, and applications teams to resolve performance issues and support product development decisions. Support reliability engineering teams by correlating bench characterisation data with qualification and reliability stress test results, including HTOL, HTRB, and other reliability assessments. Investigate discrepancies between bench measurements, reliability data, and production test results, driving root-cause analysis and corrective actions. Generate technical reports and present validation findings, conclusions, and recommendations to cross-functional stakeholders. Drive continuous improvement of validation processes, test infrastructure, and automation frameworks to increase efficiency and measurement quality. Ensure all validation activities are completed in accordance with project schedules, quality standards, and product release requirements. Your profile Qualifications and skills to help you succeed Deep hands-on expertise in static and dynamic parameter measurement techniques , with a strong understanding of measurement accuracy, sources of error, and methods to minimise or eliminate measurement uncertainty. Proven experience in high-power PCB design for demanding switching applications, including layouts operating in 400V/100A environments . Strong proficiency in Altium Designer , including end-to-end ownership of: Schematic design PCB layout Design verification Manufacturing documentation and handoff Working knowledge of Python-based test automation , with the ability to read, debug, modify, and enhance existing automated test systems. Solid understanding of the relationship between bench characterisation and production test , including the ability to develop and support correlation methodologies. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a disciplined approach to troubleshooting and root-cause analysis. Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced product development environment while supporting multiple concurrent validation programmes. Excellent communication and collaboration skills for working with design, reliability, product engineering, and manufacturing teams. #WeAreIn for driving decarbonization and digitalization.
