In this position...
As a leader in our Purchasing / Supplier Technical Assistance Team (STA), your primary responsibility is to lead your team and supplier partners in the robust industrialization of the manufacturing process, deliver improved quality, capacity and reduce warranty on current model production and new model launches, utilizing standard tools and processes. You will also be responsible for the development of your employees and the development of a business plan for your specific suppliers that will achieve best-in-class launch, quality, capacity, and warranty performance.
Guide your team to lead efforts in warranty improvements with cross functional teams and suppliers.
Ensure alignment with Supplier Technical Assistants, Product Development and other Ford functions as appropriate to address technical and systemic opportunities.
Guide your team in identifying systemic lessons learned from project work and ensure they are implementing systemic improvements.
What you will do ....
- Coach and lead your team of five warranty engineers in completing warranty analysis and driving improvements
- Utilize Ford’s warranty system to track top issues and drive teams to solve problems.
- Lead effort to have cross functional reviews with suppliers to review their top warranty issues, complete systemic analysis, and drive both warranty and systemic improvements.
- Complete business projects to drive improvements in the systems that are used to understand and solve warranty issues.
- Lead Gembas at Ford and supplier plants to understand and fix top warranty issues.
- Train suppliers and Supplier Technical Assistants in warranty systems and problem-solving techniques.
- Utilize process engineering skills to understand the physics used to create parts and trouble shoot problems.
- Learn and drive your team’s knowledge and application of
- Strategic Problem Solving to use strategies to determine the physics, chemistry, electricity, etc. causing the failures and drive to resolution.
- Use 6-Sigma skills including Measurement Systems Analysis, process capability, hypothesis tests, pairwise comparisons, Design of Experiments, Multi-vary analysis, multiple regression, reliability analysis, etc. to complete tests and analyze data.
- Utilize the 3x5 why process to drive to systemic root cause and systemic improvements.

- Leadership training and skills
- Data analysis skills
- Bachelor of Science/ Engineering, or equivalent technical/manufacturing aptitude
- 2+ years of Plant Manufacturing experience
- Experience leading multiple complex assignments with demanding timelines
- Problem Solving Skills – (e.g. Shainin, Green Belt, 8D, Strategic Problem Solving, Black Belt or Master Black Belt.
- Ability to develop and present materials to senior leadership with short timelines
- Strong communication and team building
- Knowledge of vehicle or powertrain component commodities, functions, and related features.
- Ability to speak and write in English language fluently to effectively communicate with the global team
