St. Luke's University Health Network is seeking a dynamic, relationship-driven Director of Development to advance philanthropy in support of the Network's mission, strategic priorities, clinical excellence, and community impact. This frontline fundraising professional will manage a portfolio of major gift prospects and donors, develop and execute fundraising strategies, and partner with physicians, administrators, trustees, volunteers, and community leaders to secure transformational philanthropic investments.

The Director of Development will serve as a key member of the Individual Giving team and will be responsible for identifying, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding major gift commitments that support hospitals, service lines, institutes, capital priorities, educational initiatives, research, and community health programs throughout St. Luke's University Health Network.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage a portfolio of approximately 125-150 major gift donors and prospects.

  • Develop annual cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship plans for assigned prospects, specifically a Top 25.

  • Conduct meaningful donor visits and qualification meetings.

  • Personally solicit and close major gifts, including outright, pledge, blended, and planned gift commitments.

  • Maintain accurate prospect activity and strategy documentation within Raiser's Edge.

  • Develop strong relationships with donors, grateful patients, community leaders, physicians, and volunteers.

  • Collaborate with hospital leadership, service line leadership, and clinical partners to identify philanthropic priorities and funding opportunities.

  • Engage volunteers, physicians, and executives in donor cultivation and solicitation activities.

  • Serve as a trusted philanthropic advisor and ambassador for St. Luke's.

  • Partner with Prospect Strategy & Research to identify, qualify, and prioritize major gift opportunities.

  • Expand the donor pipeline through proactive prospecting and relationship-building efforts.

  • Collaborate with annual giving, stewardship, and planned giving colleagues to develop integrated donor strategies.

  • Promote a culture of philanthropy across the Network.

  • Collaborate with Development Department leadership to advance departmental goals and best practices.

  • Represent St. Luke's at community events, donor functions, and professional associations.

PHYSICAL AND SENSORY REQUIREMENTS:

Sitting for up to eight hours per day, up to two hours at a time. Walking for up to one hour per day, up to 15 minutes at a time. Involves frequent travel between campuses and within the region. Involves frequent fingering, firm grasping, handling, twisting and turning. Occasional lifting and carrying objects up to 25 pounds. Occasional stooping, bending and reaching above shoulder level. Hearing as it relates to normal conversation. Seeing as it relates to general vision, near vision, color vision, peripheral vision and visual monotony.

EDUCATION:

  • Bachelor's degree required.

  • Master's degree or CFRE certification preferred.

TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum of five years of progressive fundraising experience, preferably in healthcare, higher education, or a complex nonprofit environment.

  • Proven success securing major gifts of $25,000 and above.

  • Demonstrated experience managing prospect portfolios and achieving fundraising goals.

  • Experience working collaboratively with senior executives, physicians, board members, and community leaders preferred.
