Granite City Processing (formerly Heidtman Steel) is growing, and we're looking for hard-working, dependable Steel Handlers to join our 2nd shift team.

If you have experience operating forklifts, overhead cranes, or other material handling equipment, you already have valuable skills we're looking for. No steel industry experience? We’re willing to train the right person.

COMPETITIVE PAY + EXTRA EARNING POTENTIAL

Starting Wage: $20.51/hr

Plus:

• +$1.50/hr 2nd Shift Premium
• +$1.00/hr 3rd Shift Premium
• Monthly Production Incentive Bonus
• 2025 Bonus Average: 15.13%
• That's approximately $3.10/hr in additional earnings based on the $20.51 starting wage

WHAT YOU'LL DO

Steel Handlers play an important role in keeping our production operation moving. You'll work with steel products and material handling equipment while helping ensure materials are moved safely, efficiently, and accurately.

You'll have the opportunity to work with:

• Forklifts
• Overhead cranes
• Material handling equipment
• Steel processing machinery
• Coils and steel products
• Production and shipping materials

Safety, teamwork, and attention to detail are critical to success in this role.

EXPERIENCE THAT STANDS OUT

• Steel processing equipment
• Manufacturing or industrial machinery

Steel industry experience is a plus, but motivated candidates who are ready to learn are encouraged to apply.

Requirements

 You should be computer-literate to maintain the associated production documents. Experience driving a forklift, overhead crane, material handler, and steel handler experience is desired. This is a physically demanding job which requires standing, bending, twisting, stooping, and the ability to move up to 50 lbs.

Prior experience in machine operation and/or steel manufacturing experience is preferred for Slitter Opportunities; prior experience operating steel slitter machines is a bonus.
