We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Legal Officer to assist and support the delivery of prosecution work within our busy legal team.
The successful candidate will provide support to solicitors and legal professionals in the management of a varied caseload of regulatory and enforcement matters, including the preparation and progression of prosecution cases, drafting legal documents, liaising with internal departments and external agencies, and supporting advocacy where appropriate.
You will be a proactive and organised individual with excellent communication and interpersonal skills, strong attention to detail and the ability to manage competing priorities. Ideally, you will have an interest in some or all of the following: local government law, regulatory enforcement, prosecution work and anti-social behaviour. You must have the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a collaborative team together with a positive, flexible approach and commitment to delivering excellent public service.

Skills
Essential:
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills in a professional way.
- Ability to give clear and accurate legal advice. The post holder is required to influence, support and advise.
As this post meets the requirements of the Immigration Act 2016 (part 7), the ability to converse at ease with members of the public and provide advice in accurate spoken English is essential for the post.
Knowledge
Essential:
- A developing knowledge of the law and procedures within the specialist discipline.
- Understanding of local authority functions and services.
Experience & Qualifications
Essential:
- 5 x GCSEs or equivalent including English and Maths Grade C / 4 or above.
- Experience of working within an in-house local government service.
