Our vertically integrated model gives us total control over every part of the energy lifecycle – from sale through installation and beyond – so you can find endless opportunities for growth. Come join a career you can grow in and a culture you can run with.

Who We Are

We’re on a mission to make energy more reliable and affordable for more people. We provide an opportunity with storage and solar to help people access greater energy independence without the big upfront costs. Sunrun is the largest dedicated residential solar and storage company in the country and has a mission to bring stably priced resilient power to the masses.

About Sunrun & The Role

Help launch Sunrun’s brand-new St. Louis branch! As America’s #1 home solar and battery company, we are seeking an experienced Non-Certified Electrician to join our team starting now!

As a key member of our launch team, you will spend your first few months gaining hands-on leadership experience alongside our established Chicago team before permanently running installation crews out of our new St. Louis branch when doors open in early 2027.

Through our Power+ program, we invest heavily in your skills and career development, offering cross-training across solar, battery, and service operations to build long-term job security.

Travel & Perks Package

While supporting operations in Chicago during the pre-launch phase, Sunrun covers 100% of your travel overhead:

  • Rotation Schedule: 2 weeks on-site in Chicago, followed by 4 full days off at home in St. Louis.

  • Company Vehicle: Dedicated company vehicle provided for travel and work use.

  • Paid Travel Time: Full hourly compensation for time spent traveling between St. Louis and Chicago.

  • Lodging & Meal Allowance: 100% company-paid hotel accommodations plus daily per diem.

Key Responsibilities

  • Electrical Installation & Interconnection: Lead or assist in the installation of electrical systems interconnecting residential solar arrays and battery storage systems to the power grid.

  • Service & Troubleshooting: Perform Main Panel Upgrades (MPUs), troubleshoot system issues, resolve electrical problems, and assist with necessary repairs or commissioning.

  • Crew Support & Leadership: Support the PV installation crew on-site and step up to lead the crew when the Foreperson is absent.

  • Code & Safety Compliance: Ensure work meets high workmanship standards, complies with current NEC and local codes, and strictly adheres to OSHA safety standards and Sunrun practices.

  • Inspections & Communication: Coordinate with local inspectors as assigned, and work closely with homeowners and branch teams to deliver a top-tier customer experience.

Qualifications

  • Education & Apprenticeship Hours: High school diploma or equivalent. Must possess 75% of the hours required to sit for state-specific electrical certification exams (Certified Electrical Trainee preferred or required depending on state regulations).

  • Electrical Experience: Hands-on electrical installation and repair experience, including work with wiring up to 600 VDC / 480 VAC. Working knowledge of replacing residential electrical services and distribution panels preferred.

  • Technical & Code Proficiency: Working knowledge of NEC codes, ability to interpret single-line drawings/PV system schematics from roof to meter, and solid understanding of solar interconnection principles and basic construction.

  • Driver Requirements: Must be at least 21 years old with a valid driver’s license and a clean driving record (ability to pass a driving background check).

  • Soft Skills & Ownership: Strong troubleshooting and logical decision-making skills, customer focus, and a results-driven attitude with the ability to lead when necessary.

Physical Demands

  • Lifting & Transport: Ability to regularly transport materials and equipment up to 50 lbs (and up to 100 lbs with assistance).

  • Heights & Confined Spaces: Comfortable working on rooftops at various pitch angles, walking on rafters/shingles without causing damage, and maneuvering in attics, basements, or crawl spaces.

  • PPE & Safety Gear: Ability to work safely while wearing heavy protective equipment, including arc flash suits, gloves, face shields, and fall protection harnesses.

  • Environmental Exposure: Ability to work outdoors in varied weather conditions (extreme heat/cold, humidity, wet environments), low-light or full-sun settings, and around standard chemical materials.

  • Vision & Physical Function: Fine motor skills (manipulation, grasping, pinching), normal color vision (ability to distinguish wiring colors such as red, black, yellow, white, green), and clear hearing for safety commands.
