Description
Role Overview
TeraRecon an SAI Group company is looking for an exceptional Vice President – Engineering to lead the next generation of its AI-powered clinical imaging and intelligence platform.
This leader will own the architecture, engineering strategy, and execution of a new agentic AI platform, including intelligent AI applications and assistants designed for clinical imaging, clinical intelligence, and radiology workflow automation.
The role will lead a high-calibre team of approximately 45 to 50 AI and software engineers and will work closely with Product, Clinical, AI/ML, and senior leadership teams to transform complex clinical and imaging workflows into scalable, intelligent software products.
The ideal candidate is a deeply technical engineering leader and hands-on builder who has successfully architected and delivered sophisticated AI/software platforms, has strong experience in healthcare and/or medical imaging, and brings demonstrated expertise in agentic AI and agentic platform architecture.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the architecture and development of TeraRecon’s next-generation agentic AI platform, establishing the technical vision, architecture, engineering standards, and development roadmap.
- Design and build AI applications and intelligent agents/assistants for clinical imaging, clinical intelligence, radiology, and workflow automation.
- Define architectures for agent orchestration, tool use, multi-agent workflows, LLM/RAG-based applications, context management, memory, evaluation, observability, and AI safety/guardrails.
- Translate complex clinical and radiology workflows into reliable, scalable, and production-grade AI solutions.
- Lead and develop a 45 to 50 member team of AI/ML and software engineers, creating a high-performance engineering culture focused on technical excellence, ownership, and rapid execution.
- Remain technically hands-on, contributing to architecture, design reviews, critical technical decisions, and resolution of complex engineering/AI challenges.
- Establish engineering practices for scalability, reliability, security, performance, testing, deployment, monitoring, and production resilience of AI-powered healthcare applications.
- Partner closely with Product, Clinical, AI/ML, and other technology leaders to identify opportunities where agentic AI can deliver meaningful improvements in clinical and radiology workflows.
- Drive the development lifecycle from architecture and prototyping through production deployment, scale, and continuous optimization.
- Ensure solutions meet the high standards required for clinical-grade, regulated healthcare software, including appropriate considerations around security, privacy, validation, explainability, and reliability.
- Attract, mentor, and retain high-quality engineering talent while building strong technical leadership within the organization.
Ideal Candidate Profile
Experience
- Typically, 18+ years of software/engineering experience, with significant experience leading engineering organizations and complex product development.
- Proven experience building and scaling healthcare, clinical, medical imaging, radiology, or related healthcare technology products.
- Strong track record of taking complex AI/software products from architecture through production and scale.
- Experience leading engineering team, ideally across AI/ML and software engineering disciplines.
Agentic AI – Mandatory
- Deep, hands-on experience designing and building agentic AI systems and platforms is mandatory.
- Strong understanding of LLM-based application architecture, AI agents, agent orchestration, tool calling, RAG, multi-agent systems, memory/context architectures, AI evaluation, and production AI infrastructure.
- Demonstrated experience moving agentic AI concepts beyond experimentation into robust, scalable production applications.
- Ability to make pragmatic architectural decisions across LLMs, AI models, data, application services, APIs, orchestration, and infrastructure.
Healthcare / Medical Imaging
- Strong experience developing clinical, healthcare, medical imaging, radiology, or adjacent healthcare applications.
- Understanding of the complexities of building software for clinical workflows and healthcare environments.
- Experience with healthcare data, clinical systems, imaging workflows, or standards such as DICOM, HL7/FHIR would be highly valuable.
Leadership
- Exceptional engineering leadership and people-management capabilities.
- Ability to operate simultaneously at strategic, architectural, and execution levels.
- Strong product orientation and ability to translate clinical/business problems into technology solutions.
- Proven ability to build high-performing, accountable engineering teams.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence Product, Clinical, AI/ML, and executive stakeholders.
What Will Differentiate the Candidate
The strongest candidates will demonstrate a combination of:
Agentic AI expertise + Healthcare/Medical Imaging expertise + Deep technical engineering leadership + Proven product delivery.
In particular, we are looking for someone who has personally architected and built agentic AI platforms/products, rather than someone whose experience is primarily in AI strategy, research, program management, or conventional software engineering leadership.
Success in the Role
Success will be measured by the leader's ability to:
- Establish and execute the architecture for TeraRecon's agentic AI platform.
- Rapidly convert AI capabilities into production-grade clinical applications and assistants.
- Build and lead a highly effective around 50 person AI/software engineering organization.
- Deliver scalable, secure, reliable, and clinically appropriate AI solutions.
- Establish TeraRecon as a technology leader in AI-powered medical imaging and radiology workflow automation.
