Description
Mercor is recruiting UK-based Banking, Consulting, Legal, and Technology Experts to annotate data for a research project with a leading frontier AI lab.
We are seeking experienced professionals with 3+ years of post-graduate, hands-on experience in banking and investing, law, consulting, technology, or finance operations. Most of our current experts sit in the 3-10 year experience range.
This work is about deciding what "good" looks like. You will review realistic workplace tasks and the outputs they produce, work out what a top performer in your own profession would actually have delivered, and record that judgment in a precise, structured, consistent form. Strong candidates are opinionated about quality in their own domain and can defend, in writing, why one deliverable is better than another.
Ideal candidates come from one or more of the following backgrounds:
- Banking and investing: bulge bracket or top boutique investment banking, private equity, growth equity, or equity research (Goldman Sachs, J.P. Morgan, Morgan Stanley, Citi, Barclays, Lazard, Rothschild, Evercore, EQT, Bridgepoint, Cinven)
- Law: Magic Circle or US firms in London, or in-house counsel (A&O Shearman, Clifford Chance, Freshfields, Linklaters, Slaughter and May)
- Consulting: MBB, or Big 4 strategy and deals
- Technology: FAANG or top-tier tech and fintech, in software engineering, product management, data science, or design (Google, DeepMind, Meta, Amazon, Apple, Microsoft, Stripe, Revolut, Monzo)
- Finance operations: controller, FP&A, treasury, or business finance
Ideal candidates have a strong academic or professional-qualification background, such as:
- Oxbridge, LSE, Imperial, UCL, Warwick, or the wider Russell Group
- A top US or continental European equivalent (Ivy+, INSEAD, Bocconi, IE)
- A top MBA, or a professional qualification such as ACA, ACCA, CFA, or qualification as a solicitor
Ideal candidates have experience with one or more of the following:
- Setting the quality bar for other people's work, such as reviewing analyst or associate output, marking up drafts, or running QC
- Writing checklists, review criteria, or model answers
- Breaking a finished deliverable down into the specific decisions that made it good or bad
- Working from messy, incomplete source material and documenting the assumptions made
- Giving written feedback that is specific enough to act on
- Holding a consistent standard across a high volume of work
You'll help create, review, and annotate high-quality workplace scenarios, leveraging your professional judgment about what separates excellent work from merely acceptable work in your field.
Strong candidates are precise writers, comfortable being held to a numeric standard, and willing to be told an annotation is wrong and to redo it.
Here are more details about the role:
- You will be contributing high-quality training data for frontier AI systems
- Immediate start, with work scheduled week by week through the end of the year
- We are looking for a minimum of 30 hours per week, confirmed week by week
- The project team collaborates on a UK business-hours rhythm
- Successful contributions increase the likelihood of being selected for future Mercor projects
The vetting process involves:
- Resume and work history screen
- A short screen confirming your UK location, right to work, and week-by-week availability through the end of the year
- A short interview evaluating domain expertise and evaluative judgment
Please note: Candidates must be based in the United Kingdom and have the right to work in the United Kingdom. This is an essential requirement for the role.
