About the job
We are looking for an experienced Senior Insurance Accountant to join an international finance team in Porto, Portugal.
This is a full-time hybrid position involving account analysis, financial controls, quarterly closing activities, and cross-functional collaboration.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyse and justify the accounts within your assigned scope.
- Prepare and maintain complete audit-trail documentation.
- Coordinate with contributors and stakeholders to collect the required financial information.
- Conduct detailed financial analyses and communicate conclusions.
- Recommend process improvements and monitor their implementation.
- Support quarterly closing activities under local GAAP and IFRS.
- Review the accuracy and quality of financial data.
- Analyse and control different categories of accounts.
- Participate in finance-related projects and support their operational implementation.
- Work closely with financial reporting, IT, actuarial services, internal control, and other relevant departments.
Requirements
- Degree in Accounting, Finance, Audit, or a related field.
- Approximately 6–10 years of experience in a comparable accounting or finance position is preferred.
- Advanced English, minimum C1 level, is mandatory.
- Fluency in French is a strong advantage.
- Solid knowledge of insurance accounting and consolidation.
- Previous experience with IFRS standards, ideally IFRS 17 and IFRS 9.
- Experience with accounting systems such as SAP, Oracle, or CODA.
- Strong command of Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Eligibility to work in Portugal.
Working Schedule and Model
- Full-time position.
- Hybrid working model in Porto, Portugal.
