Location: This position will be located in our Augusta, Bangor, or Portland office and may require statewide travel. 

Currently, this position is not eligible for visa sponsorship or STEM OPT extensions.

 Core Responsibilities:

As the Child Protective Services Nurse Consultant, you will work under the direction of the Medical Director of OCFS and the Child Wellbeing Supervisor. You will be responsible for the following as it relates to the well-being of children in foster care and their caregiver(s):

•        Collaborate with OCFS staff, medical providers, social service providers and other community collaboratives, taskforces and workgroups who work to improve the well-being of children and youth in foster care

•        Collaborate and provide consultation with OCFS staff regarding children in foster care with unique medical needs and complex medical issues.

•        Provide quality improvement training for direct line staff.

•        Gather and document information related to the well-being of children in foster care and provide follow up to ensure identified these needs are addressed. (including, but not limited to: Immunizations, Initial Medical Appointments, Comprehensive Medical Evaluations, Well Child Checks, etc)

•        Provide oversight and monitoring for psychotropic medications prescribed to children and youth in foster care, including pulling and reviewing monthly reports in accordance with the Desk Level Procedure Guide

•        Other duties as it relates to supporting the health and well-being of children and youth in foster care

Minimum Qualifications:

A Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing or related field demonstrating competency in case management, medication management, child welfare, and/or behavioral health management.

This position requires a valid license as a Registered Nurse as issued by the Maine State Board of Nursing.

PREFERRED CANDIDATES WILL HAVE:

1.        Knowledge of child health and well-being related to development and recommended care related to medical, dental, and mental health.

2.        Knowledge of child welfare, child abuse and neglect, children’s behavioral health and trauma informed systems of care.

3.        Knowledge of pharmacological and non-pharmacological treatments for developmental, behavioral and mental health conditions of children and adolescents.
