Ensure the provision of goods and services for the organization, guaranteeing the best commercial conditions through reasonable, fair, and transparent processes aligned with corporate objectives.
Job Purpose
The role of the Senior Supply Chain Specialist is to identify, negotiate, and procure materials and services for the South African business, with a special focus on operational assets.
The ultimate goal is to ensure the best possible outcome with respect to cost, time, safety and quality, as well as enabling coordination among the different areas of the business in both South Africa and Spain.
Duties and Responsibilities
Procurement Functions
Ensuring adherence to and execution of the annual procurement plan
Ensuring that departmental KPIs are met
Executing RFQs for equipment and services according to company policies;
- Preparing detailed commercial evaluations
- Negotiating and structuring best commercial and legal terms and conditions for operational purchases
- Making award recommendations considering cost, quality and schedule
- Preparing purchase orders, supply and service agreements in liaison with other departments where necessary
- Preparing contract amendments, renewals and terminations
- Preparing framework agreements for spare parts and services
Supplier relationship management;
- Introducing relevant and strategic suppliers to the database
- Developing local suppliers for repairs services
Managing operations purchases with an outsourced entity (BPO)
Managing specific local requirements;
- Negotiating and opening credit facilities with strategic suppliers
- Ensuring that the economic development commitments for the operational assets are met
1.7 Management of warranty claims;
- Weekly update of warranty orders pending placement
- Executing purchase orders
- Expediting of orders pending delivery
- Maintenance of warranty claims registers
1.8 Demand and planning support;
- Leading the MRP for planned and corrective maintenance
- Coordinating transfer of material from central or other warehouses
Logistics Functions
2.1 Manage logistical activities for local purchases
Manage all import and transfer orders activities with the logistics operations team Liaise with customs brokers, transporters and warehouse staff for the delivery of goods Expediting deliveries with suppliers to ensure all delivery target dates are met Provide support for warehouse functions
Administration Functions
Management of supplier database
Preparation of all necessary reports
Support and participation during audits
Other
- Assist with ad hoc requests and projects that may reasonably be expected within the company from time to time to promote the aims of the company
Required Skills and Competencies
EDUCATION
- Minimum of an undergraduate Degree in Engineering, Finance, Law or Project Management disciplines
- A minimum of 5 years’ experience in the supply chain disciplines in the renewable energy industry
- Knowledge of MS Office Suite
- Relevant working experience with an ERP package - SAP would be advantageous.
- Experience in wind and solar PV technologies is a must
- Financial acumen and relevant legal knowledge
- Very good understanding of:
- Local and specific requirements such as local content and B-BBEE concepts
- International procurement with specific emphasis on imports and exports processes
- Supply and services agreements
