Description

Job Description:

Under the direction of the Assistant Dean of Career Engagement, the Student Employment Coordinator supports a transformational career services team empowering artists and creative leaders to realize their career potential. Serving as a highly visible first point of contact, this role combines detailed student employment administration, accessible generalist career advising, and day-to-day operational support for the Career Center. At Berklee, your work directly supports the next generation of creative leaders.

Key Responsibilities

Student Employment Administration:

  • Program Oversight: Support student employment operations across the College and Conservatory in alignment with institutional, federal, and state regulations.
  • Eligibility & Compliance: Monitor student eligibility (GPA, credit load, SSA, visa requirements) and facilitate E-Verify employment verifications while maintaining accurate, confidential records.
  • Student & Supervisor Support: Serve as the primary contact for inquiries regarding eligibility, hiring, onboarding, and payroll policies across virtual, email, and in-person channels.

Generalist Advising & Career Education:

  • First-Line Guidance: Provide generalist career guidance via scheduled appointments, drop-in hours, and small-group sessions, referring complex inquiries to specialized Career Advisors.
  • Workshop Facilitation: Deliver orientations and presentations using established career curriculum on topics like résumés, interviewing, and job-search strategies.
  • Signature Events: Assist with department-wide programming and signature events, including Career Jam, the Job Expo, boot camps, and industry trips.

Operations & Center Support:

  • Facility & Space Management: Coordinate room reservations, shared calendars, and physical space readiness (computers, video conferencing, furniture setup) for advising, interviews, and employer visits.
  • Tech Logistics & Troubleshooting: Perform routine technology checks, maintain equipment inventories, and troubleshoot issues alongside IT, Facilities, and Public Safety.

What You'll Bring

  • Education & Experience: Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent combination of education/experience) plus 1–3 years of experience in student services, program administration, higher education, or career services.
  • Regulatory Knowledge: Working knowledge of Federal Work-Study, student employment policies, payroll practices, and visa considerations (or the capacity to learn quickly).
  • Technical Proficiency: Strong technology skills using Google Workspace, spreadsheets, and scheduling tools. Experience with Workday, Salesforce, or CRM databases is preferred.
  • Core Competencies: Strong organizational and presentation skills, high emotional intelligence, and a commitment to maintaining an inclusive, student-centered environment. Foreign language skills and an interest in performing arts/creative industries are a plus.

Why Choose Berklee?
