Description

We’re seeking someone to join our team as a Manager/ Senior Manager- Devops to support the FID trading desks – Exotics Rates, Hybrids, Inflation, Rates Options & FX – by building pricing and risk models in the production system. In addition, the team also provide daily support desk in day-to-day pricing requests and risk management issues.

In the Fixed Income division, we work in fast-paced and constantly changing global markets to assess and manage risk, trade securities, manage relationships with clients, and structure and execute innovative transactions.

Since 1935, Morgan Stanley is known as a global leader in financial services, continuously evolving and innovating to better serve our clients and our communities in more than 40 countries around the world.

We are looking for a technical, hands-on specialist to help enhance automated build & release, integration and testing infrastructure for the pricing and risk modelling libraries. The successful candidate will help to maintain and improve the build, test and configuration automation covering the entire lifecycle across several million lines of C++, java, and scala source code. Items of particular focus will include maintenance and enhancement of code quality and performance monitoring tooling such as C++ sanitisers, memory profilers, debug environment and tooling, on both Linux and Windows and across language boundaries into C++. The successful candidate will assist with tooling to support architecture and coding standards, C++ standards modernisation, dependency and obsolescence management across the entire portfolio of FID analytics libraries, ensuring a consistent approach and standard tooling developed and deployed throughout.

This is a challenging and high-profile role because most of the fixed income portfolio is valued and risked using these libraries, which are used by many varied applications throughout the firm and have multiple inter-dependencies. This requires that we build the libraries in a consistent manner on multiple different platforms, and integrate them into the varied application landscape, which is itself constantly changing. Our ability to patch, test and release new functionality within hours if not minutes can be critical to our success as a business and the successful candidate will be critical to helping us achieve this.

What you'll do in the role:

Essential:

  • Modern C++ development experience (C++17 desired, minimum C++11 required) with the emphasis on large code base support and maintenance (not necessarily green-field development), including large-scale code changes and routine maintenance tasks such as dependency upgrades, and refactoring/moving code around without disrupting the work of other developers.

  • Experience with one or more C++ build tools including Bazel, CMake, Premake, make, Visual Studio/MSBuild, and build acceleration tools such as BuildBuddy, IncrediBuild, distcc and ccache.

  • Experience as a build engineer in Linux and Windows, including dependency management, debugging build-time and run-time problems.

  • Experience managing Jenkins job configurations.

  • Experience in shell and Python scripting for tasks such as build management, artifact promotion and propagation.

  • Experience with standard static C++ code quality/analysis tools such as Sonar, cpplint, cppcheck, clang-tidy, and code coverage tooling.

  • Experience with C++ dynamic code quality tools such as Valgrind, sanitizers and profilers.

  • Experience with AI-assisted development and SDLC.

  • Experience of working in a globally distributed team and coordinating across multiple stakeholders.

Desired:

  • Experience of fixed income derivatives and working as part of a front-office team of quant developers.
