Aviation Fuel Operations & Business Development Consultant
Location: Guayaquil, Ecuador
Position Summary
World Fuel is seeking an experienced aviation fuel and commercial operations professional to support our Ecuador business as a Contract Consultant. This role will serve as a strategic advisor and local representative, helping ensure operational continuity, strengthen customer and supplier relationships, identify growth opportunities, and support business expansion initiatives across Ecuador.
The successful candidate will work closely with customers, suppliers, regulatory agencies, airports, and internal stakeholders to support aviation fuel operations while driving commercial growth and evaluating new business opportunities.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced aviation fuel, airport operations, energy, or commercial leader with strong relationships in the Ecuadorian market and a proven ability to execute both operational and business development initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
Operational Leadership & Stakeholder Management
- Maintain strong relationships with customers, suppliers, airport authorities, regulatory agencies, and government stakeholders to support uninterrupted business operations.
- Serve as a local representative for the business in meetings with Petroecuador, ARCH, government agencies, and other key stakeholders.
- Support operational continuity across Ecuador, ensuring safe, compliant, and timely delivery of products and services.
- Provide oversight and coordination for airport fuel operations, distribution activities, and supply chain management.
- Support inventory management and operational controls across airport and distribution locations.
- Assist with regulatory reporting and compliance activities.
Business Development & Commercial Growth
- Develop and execute strategies to increase off-airport fuel sales by approximately 20%.
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities within the aviation fuel market.
- Evaluate opportunities to implement into-plane fueling services at new airport locations.
- Assess opportunities for importing aviation fuels, including Jet A-1 and Avgas, into the Ecuadorian market.
- Support commercial growth initiatives across local World Kinect businesses and affiliated operations.
- Build and maintain relationships with current and prospective customers to expand market presence.
Project & Strategic Support
- Analyze potential new projects, partnerships, and expansion opportunities.
- Provide market insights and recommendations to support business planning and decision-making.
- Support special projects related to aviation, fuel distribution, logistics, and operational excellence.
- Provide operational coverage and leadership support when required.
Qualifications
- Significant experience in aviation fuel operations, fuel distribution, airport operations, energy, logistics, or a related field.
- Strong knowledge of the Ecuadorian aviation and fuel market.
- Established relationships with relevant industry stakeholders, regulatory agencies, airport authorities, suppliers, and customers.
- Experience managing operational activities within a regulated environment.
- Demonstrated success in business development, sales growth, account management, or commercial leadership.
- Strong understanding of aviation fuel supply chains and operational requirements.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to work independently and represent the organization with senior external stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working with aviation fuel providers, airports, airlines, fuel distributors, or energy companies.
- Knowledge of regulatory requirements governing fuel distribution and aviation operations in Ecuador.
- Experience evaluating or launching new aviation fuel, airport, or logistics projects.
- Bilingual Spanish and English preferred.
Ideal Candidate Profile
The ideal consultant combines operational expertise with strong commercial acumen. This individual is a trusted relationship builder who understands the Ecuador aviation fuel market, can navigate complex stakeholder environments, and has the ability to identify and execute growth opportunities while ensuring safe and efficient operations.
This version reads as a much more senior and strategic consulting opportunity versus an administrative operations support role, which should attract stronger aviation and commercial candidates.
