As a Nutrition Services Assistant on our team, your job will be to create a healing environment and nutritious food — just like our patients have come to expect. For you, that means joining a team that’s focused on delivering world-class care. In this role, you will be responsible for preparing assigned foods for service to patients, staff and cafeteria guests. All the while, we’ll provide you with opportunities to keep advancing your career.
A caregiver in this position works Monday-Friday from 6:00AM – 2:30PM or 11:00AM – 7:30PM, including rotating weekends and holidays.
A caregiver who excels in this role will:
Perform a variety of duties related to the set-up, delivery and food service.
Assist with daily dietary requests and needs of patients, visitors and caregivers.
Maintain a clean and orderly work area.
Prepare, set up and replenish steam table, salad bar, cooler, baker’s racks, coffee area, condiments and silverware throughout the meal period.
Make pizzas to order and maintain all ingredients.
Set up and support catering events.
Maintain the register and proper cash handling with overages/shortages of less than 1.5% of total drawer.
Ensure proper food temperature using calibrated thermometers.
Rotate, prepare and label all leftover food.
Set up, serve and collect dinner patient trays.
Complete cleaning assignments.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
Good reading and writing skills
Ability to add, subtract and handle other arithmetic functions
Basic computer skills
Can accurately measure and portion formula and food
Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
High School Diploma or GED
Two years of experience in nutrition in a healthcare setting
Sufficient previous experience in large scale food preparation
Knowledge of cooking methods/procedures, including types of preparation and related routines
Training in institutional food preparation
Prior restaurant experience in kitchen
Physical Requirements:
Able to stand on feet for 8 hours; push carts loaded with food and service related equipment and stock; able to lift items up to 25 pounds.
Personal Protective Equipment:
Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
