Maintenance Technician

As the Maintenance Technician this role will consist primarily of performing repairs and maintenance to the building and equipment.

Specific Responsibilities:

 

·    General building maintenance such as replacing light bulbs, ceiling tiles and painting.

·    General grounds keeping duties

·    Maintain adequate stock of equipment spare parts

·    Keep all maintenance log books and service records up to date

·    Must be available as needed for emergency call-outs

·    Purchase and transport of building materials and maintenance supplies

·    Assist with minor building repairs such as painting basic carpentry and basic plumbing , etc

·    Assist in the maintenance of lab equipment i.e. changing air and water filters, cleaning scrubber nozzles and greasing bearings

·    Routine maintenance and repairs on equipment such as heating and a/c units, blowers. Scrubbers, jaw crushers and ring mills\

·    General building maintenance such as replacing light bulbs, ceiling titles and painting

·    Light plumbing and carpentry work.

·    Welding.

·    Work with contractors and/or suppliers.

·    Observe established safety regulations and comply with all ALS health and safety policies and procedures

·    Use correct methods in accordance with the stablished procedures and schedules while ensuring analytical quality

·    Be available for on-call projects.

·    Other duties as assigned.

 

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

·   Working knowledge of Microsoft office

·   Strong mechanical aptitude

·    Good written and oral communications skills

·   Good problem-solving skills

·   Ability to work under general supervision

·   Ability to work under pressure and mee deadlines

 

 

Required Qualifications:

·    Grade 12 diploma.

·    Some experience in general repairs and operational is preferred

·    Experience working with plumbing, carpentry, drywall and/or painting will be an asset

·    Experience working with sample Prep equipment an asset

·    Forklift certificate or experience will be considered an asset

 

 

Physical Demands

·    Ability to sit and/or stand for long periods of time

·    Ability to lift up to 50 pounds

·    Extensive walking or movement, bending, kneeling and working with machines

·    Comfortable in environments with high noise levels

·    Ability to sit a desk and do general office work, which includes periodic sedentary responsibilities

Manual dexterity to perform repetitive task
