The Accounting Manager leads the end-to-end general ledger and financial close process, ensuring accurate, timely, and compliant financial results. This position owns balance sheet integrity, close execution, and team performance, while partnering across Finance to deliver high-quality reporting and drive continuous process improvement.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Manage the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes, ensuring all deadlines are consistently met.
• Direct daily accounting operations, ensuring timely processing of accounting activities and adherence to established policies and procedures. 
• Own and maintain the close calendar, task tracking, and cross-functional coordination.
• Review and approve journal entries, accruals and adjustments.
• Ensure the accuracy and integrity of the general ledger.
• Analyze account fluctuations and variances, providing clear explanations.
• Identify accounting risks, errors, or unusual trends and drive timely resolution.
• Oversee accounts and bank reconciliations, ensuring timely completion, resolution of reconciling items, and balance sheet integrity.
• Ensure proper subledger-to-GL alignment (Accounts Payable, Fixed Assets, etc.)
• Partner with Financial Reporting, FP&A, Treasury, and Reinsurance teams to ensure accurate and complete financial inputs across functions.
• Ensure compliance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and statutory accounting principles (SAP).
• Maintain strong internal controls over general ledger and close processes.
• Support internal and external audits, including preparation of schedules and responses.
• Identify and implement process standardization and automation opportunities.
• Lead and develop team of accountants, provide technical guidance, coaching, and performance feedback.

Requirements

EDUCATION

Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required.

EXPERIENCE

Minimum of five (5) to seven (7) years of progressive accounting experience with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP), statutory accounting principles (SAP), general ledger accounting, and financial close required, including three (3) years in a leadership or supervisory role. 

CERTIFICATIONS

Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation preferred.

LICENSES

Valid Driver’s License required.
