Description
- Provide advanced perioperative nursing care to patients before, during, and after surgical procedures in accordance with clinical standards and Post Basic competencies
- Function independently as Scrub Nurse and Circulating Nurse for various surgical specialties
- Assist surgeons and anaesthetists during operative procedures, ensuring smooth workflow and patient safety
- Prepare, check, and maintain operating theatre environment, surgical instruments, equipment, and consumables
- Ensure compliance with aseptic techniques, infection prevention and control measures at all times
- Perform accurate surgical instrument, swab, and needle counts before, during, and after procedures
- Monitor and assess patients’ intra-operative condition and escalate any clinical concerns promptly
- Ensure proper handling, cleaning, sterilisation, and storage of surgical instruments and equipment
- Maintain complete, accurate, and timely documentation of perioperative nursing care and procedures
- Provide supervision, guidance, and clinical support to junior nurses and theatre support staff
- Participate in training, audits, quality improvement initiatives, and implementation of best practices
- Support emergency and after-hours surgical cases, including on-call duties as required
- Comply with hospital policies, professional nursing standards, and statutory requirements
