Position: Operation Trainer

We are seeking for an experienced Operation Trainer to join our team in Mashonaland West (Zimbabwe).

Responsibilities

Training & Assessment

  • Implement Internal Certification System for operators and Verify its Competency.

  • Deliver classroom and field-based training for heavy equipment operators (e.g., trucks, excavators, dozers, graders, loaders, water bowsers).

  • Conduct operator assessments to verify competency against company and regulatory standards.

  • Support new operator onboarding and familiarization programs.

  • Develop and implement training plans to address skills gaps and support career progression.

  • Maintain up-to-date training records, assessment checklists, and certification files.

  • Provide feedback and coaching to operators to improve performance and safe operating practices.

Operational Excellence

  • Train operators in safe, efficient, and standardized operating procedures to maximize equipment productivity and minimize damage or downtime.

  • Reinforce correct operating techniques, haul road compliance, and pit operating standards.

  • Conduct ride-alongs and practical evaluations in the pit to monitor real-time operator performance.

  • Support dispatch and operations teams in optimizing fleet utilization through operator skill development.

Safety & Compliance

  • Promote and enforce adherence to safety procedures, regulations, and site-specific requirements during training activities.

  • Deliver training on hazard identification, emergency procedures, and safe work practices.

  • Ensure operators are trained and competent to operate equipment in accordance with legal and company standards.

  • Report unsafe behaviors and incidents and participate in incident investigations where operator error is involved.

  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of operational and training safety systems.

Coordination & Support

  • Work closely with Operations, HSE, and Maintenance teams to align training content with current operational priorities.

  • Support standardization of operating procedures across different shifts and fleets.

  • Assist in the development and updating of training materials, manuals, and competency frameworks.

  • Participate in daily pre-start meetings and contribute to performance improvement discussions.

Qualifications

  • Recognized Operator Trainer certification or equivalent experience.

  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience operating or supervising heavy earthmoving equipment in mining or large-scale earthmoving projects or relevant experience with EPSA Group.

  • Proven experience in training, assessment, and competency verification of operators.

  • Strong knowledge of safe operating procedures and mine standards.

  • Familiarity with various equipment types (e.g., Caterpillar, Komatsu, Hitachi, Liebherr, Volvo).

  • OEM equipment trainer certification (e.g., Caterpillar, Komatsu) or equivalent.

  • Experience with simulator-based training systems and competency frameworks.

  • First aid or safety-related certifications.

  • Experience working in multicultural or remote mining environments.
