We are seeking an experienced Mainframe FICON SAN Engineer to support a large-scale enterprise storage and mainframe environment. This role is focused on the administra on, support, and op miza on of IBM/Brocade SAN director environments suppor ng IBM z15 and z16 mainframes, enterprise storage arrays, tape infrastructure, and replica on fabrics.

The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on experience with FICON SAN management, Fibre Channel, FCoE, Brocade/IBM SAN directors, FOS command line administra on, SANnav Management Portal, GDPS, PPRC connec vity, and storage replica on support.

Key Responsibili es

• Administer and support enterprise SAN fabrics suppor ng mainframe FICON environments.

• Manage IBM-branded Brocade SAN directors, including X6 and X7 director-class pla orms.

• Support environments with mul ple logical switches and large-scale director deployments.

• Perform SAN zoning, configura on, troubleshoo ng, monitoring, and performance analysis.

• Support FICON connec vity for IBM z15 and z16 mainframe environments.

• Manage SAN infrastructure suppor ng IBM DS8950 storage arrays and enterprise tape systems.

• Support storage replica on fabrics using SX6 blades.

• Assist with local Metro Mirror and regional replica on connec vity administra on.

• Support PPRC connec vity administra on in a GDPS-heavy mainframe environment.

• Use FOS command line tools for daily SAN administra on and troubleshoo ng.

• Leverage SANnav Management Portal for monitoring, management, and opera onal visibility.

• Collaborate with mainframe, storage, network, and infrastructure teams on changes, incidents, and upgrades.

• Par cipate in SAN maintenance ac vi es, firmware planning, configura on valida on, and change execu on.

• Iden fy opportuni es to automate rou ne SAN administra ve tasks using scrip ng where appropriate.

Required Skills and Experience

• Strong experience administering FICON SAN environments.

• Hands-on experience with Fibre Channel, FCoE, and enterprise SAN networking.

• Strong knowledge of IBM/Brocade SAN directors.

• Experience with IBM/Brocade director models such as:

o IBM SAN256B-7 / 8961-F74

o IBM SAN512B-6 / 8961-F08

o IBM SAN512B-8 / 8961-F78

• Strong FOS command line administra on experience.

• Experience with SANnav Management Portal.

• Experience suppor ng large SAN environments with mul ple directors and logical switches.

• Knowledge of FICON fabrics suppor ng IBM mainframe pla orms.

• Experience suppor ng SAN connec vity for enterprise storage and tape systems.

• Strong troubleshoo ng skills across SAN, FICON, storage replica on, and connec vity issues.

Preferred Skills

• Experience with IBM z15 and z16 mainframe environments.

• Experience with IBM DS8950 storage arrays.

• Experience with IBM TS1160, TS7760, and TS7770 tape environments.

• Knowledge of GDPS environments.

• Experience with PPRC connec vity administra on.

• Scrip ng experience with Python, Perl, or similar languages for SAN administra on automa on.

• Ability to automate repe ve FOS command-line tasks.

Ideal Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate is a senior-level SAN engineer with deep experience in mainframe FICON SAN opera ons and enterprise IBM/Brocade director-class environments. This person should be highly comfortable working from the command line, suppor ng complex SAN fabrics, troubleshoo ng replica on connec vity, and collabora ng with mainframe and storage teams in a mission-cri cal infrastructure environment.

Compensa on

Annual salary up to $150,000, depending on experience and alignment with role requirements.
