Center Mental Health Counselor
Location: Darby, Montana

Position Summary
LADGOV Corporation is seeking a qualified Center Mental Health Counselor to provide assessment, counseling, crisis intervention, case management, and mental health education services in a residential educational environment serving adolescents and young adults.
The counselor will support students experiencing emotional, behavioral, and mental health concerns while working collaboratively with healthcare professionals, counselors, instructors, residential staff, and outside providers.
Responsibilities
- Conduct mental health assessments and intake evaluations.
- Review applicant and student records to identify behavioral health needs.
- Develop individualized treatment and case-management plans.
- Provide short-term counseling, brief therapy, and mental health check-ins.
- Monitor students with chronic mental health conditions.
- Provide crisis intervention and emergency behavioral health assessments.
- Refer students to psychiatric, emergency, or long-term treatment providers when appropriate.
- Coordinate care with physicians, substance-use counselors, healthcare staff, and outside providers.
- Support students with co-occurring mental health and substance-use conditions.
- Participate in accommodation, applicant-review, and multidisciplinary team meetings.
- Maintain accurate, timely, and confidential clinical documentation.
- Document diagnoses, treatment plans, medications, referrals, and student interactions.
- Prepare required monthly reports and clinical activity summaries.
- Conduct mental health orientation and educational presentations.
- Lead psychoeducational groups related to stress management, emotional regulation, anger management, healthy relationships, communication, and sleep hygiene.
- Promote mental wellness and help students address barriers affecting academic, vocational, and personal success.
- Report serious behavioral incidents and safety concerns promptly.
- Participate in staff meetings, training sessions, and quality-improvement activities.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- Active and unrestricted license as a Clinical Psychologist or Licensed Clinical Social Worker.
- Must be authorized to practice independently in Montana without supervision.
- Minimum of one year of experience as a licensed independent practitioner providing assessment and treatment services to adolescents or young adults.
- Experience conducting mental health assessments, developing treatment plans, and providing counseling services.
- Knowledge of crisis intervention, behavioral health referrals, case management, and confidential recordkeeping.
- Ability to maintain required professional licenses, credentials, and liability insurance.
- Strong communication, documentation, clinical judgment, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Ability to work effectively with adolescents and young adults from diverse backgrounds.
- Ability to successfully complete a criminal background check and drug screening.
- Final client approval is required before beginning work.
The position requires an active, unrestricted independent-practice license and at least one year of relevant experience serving adolescents or young adults.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in residential, school-based, community-health, or youth-service settings.
- Experience providing trauma-informed care.
- Experience with crisis assessment and suicide-risk evaluation.
- Experience leading therapeutic or psychoeducational groups.
- Experience working with co-occurring mental health and substance-use conditions.
- Familiarity with electronic health-record systems.
