Description
This position description includes the essential functions which the position is expected to perform to include “other duties as assigned,” along with related duties likely to exceed 10% of the employee’s time. The supervisor will discuss the position description and evaluation criteria with an employee who is newly hired into a position within twenty (20) days of beginning work in the new position. The supervisor will discuss with the position holder any significant revision(s) of that description and make the revised description available to that incumbent and the Union (Clover Park Technical College AFT-Prof Agreement, 8.3.B). This description is not intended to cover every aspect of this job. While the full annual salary range for this role is $74,347.99 to $90,598.02, successful candidates are typically hired at the beginning of the salary range (Level AF08, Step A) and receive scheduled salary increment increases in accordance with the applicable Collective Bargaining Agreement.
This position has been designated as a bargaining unit position represented by the AFT Professional Staff, Local 6431.Duty: Program Administration and Peer Mentoring Center Operations
Tasks include:
- Develop, manage, and maintain operations for the Peer Mentoring Center within a student identity development framework that is consistent with College Access: Research & Action (CARA) and RCW 28B.50.920
- Work closely with the Transitional Studies, Northwest Technical High School, General Studies, Palmer Pathways faculty and administrators, and relevant community organizations to develop peer mentoring initiatives that benefit student populations
- Provide direct supervision, training, professional development, and evaluation to six peer student leaders to understand how to support student mentees with each of the 5 core competencies (college environment and fit, paying for college, navigating college systems, career pathways, and counseling and communication) through regular individual meetings, staff meetings, annual trainings, and student employee onboarding orientations.
- Conduct quarterly College Access: Research & Action trainings for Peer Mentors, culminating in 70+ hours a year of training.
- Sustain an authentic relationship and partnership with CARA to support the goal of postsecondary degree completion at CPTC.
- In partnership with Transitional Studies, develop a College 102 pilot for ABE/ESL with embedded Peer Mentors.
- Track quarterly reporting systems (i.e., benchmark tracking, early alerts, case notes)
- Oversee and evaluate student-led events and programming that support peer mentoring desired outcomes.
- Work with Institutional Effectiveness, Enrollment Services, and Student Success to collect data that reflect the program’s benchmark objectives and strategic goals (i.e., sense of belonging, college navigation skills, student retention, academic progress, graduation)
Tasks include:
- Contribute to the college-wide investigation, monitoring, and elimination of equity gaps related to college access and completion.
- Assist the College with creating a campus climate that is inclusive and welcoming to all students, especially students from marginalized and historically underrepresented populations.
- Aid in the College’s Guided Pathways Workplan goal to ensure ABE/ESL students are on the path to high-wage credentials.
- Assist with the development and implementation of a high-touch, proactive retention measure that helps to improve outcomes for students in Transitional Studies, Northwest Technical High School, General Studies, and Palmer Pathways
- Use data to demonstrate the effectiveness of programming in support of our college goal of increasing persistence, retention, and success of diverse student populations for students of color, first-generation students, low-income students, and students with disabilities
- Design and implement programs that develop a sense of belonging through intentional programming and activities geared toward specific identity-based communities.
- Lead strategies for transforming student success efforts as an Emerging Hispanic Serving Institution into a Hispanic Serving Institution
Tasks include:
- In collaboration with the Manager of MOSAIC Center and the Manager of Inclusive Excellence and Belonging, develop an equity-based and industry-focused student leadership training program.
- In collaboration with the Manager of MOSAIC Center and the Manager of Inclusive Excellence and Belonging, develop diversity, equity, inclusion, and antiracism training for all CPTC students, in accordance with RCW 28B.10.149
- Ensure training frameworks and training materials are publicly accessible on the CPTC website.
- Provide EDI consultations with faculty and industry partners to develop and facilitate customized EDI workshops and presentations that are industry-related.
Tasks include:
- Make purchases on college-issued purchase cards for the program department and reconcile P-card purchases with statements on a monthly basis.
- Interpret college policies and procedures, as well as state and federal regulations, ensuring compliance.
- Complete all required CPTC training, including but not limited to: LMS purchasing training, SafeColleges, and FERPA training. Maintain compliance at all times.
- Attend and actively participate in educational and professional activities and conferences to remain current with research and data trends, build knowledge, and expand resources for CPTC students.
- Participate in regional, state, and national professional organizations pertinent to the field, when funding is available.
- Represent CPTC's Office of Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion at shared governance committees pertinent to the role, the Peer Mentoring Center, and the Office of Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion.
- Represent CPTC’s Office of Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion at department, division, and college committees and events in the absence and request of the Associate Director for Equity, Diversity, Inclusion, and Campus Climate
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
- A minimum of one year of professional experience planning, implementing, and assessing programs designed to address the needs of diverse student populations.
- A minimum of one year supervising college student, work-study, or hourly employees.
- Experience working with historically underserved communities
- Outstanding cultural humility with proven ability to work effectively with diverse populations
- Demonstrated success with engaging with a wide range of constituents in diversity and social justice education, leadership in creating programs, implementing programs, and assessment.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively deliver services to diverse audiences in English and Spanish
- Master’s degree in a field related to higher education, college student personnel, non-profit leadership, and intercultural studies.
- Demonstrated skills using data to inform decision-making and to assess the success of events and programs
- Demonstrated understanding of student development frameworks, primarily related to intersectionality, Latino/a/x/e, disability, and first-generation identity development theory.
- Ability to collaborate by establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with faculty, administrators, staff, and students across a college campus.
- Ability to read and write in Spanish

Clover Park Technical College is located in Lakewood, Washington. Our college has a rich history of professional and technical education dating back to the 1940s, when Clover Park School District established a War Production program, training civilians as auto mechanics, aircraft-service mechanics, ship-fitters, welders and blueprint readers.
