Description
Under the general supervision, the Facilities Host is responsible for the opening and closing of the Sanger Community Center and acts as a host to groups and individuals renting the Community Center. They are responsible for the general supervision of part-time staff, including but not limited to; planning and implementing recreational programs, staff meetings, planning and organizing trips, supervision of kids in an after school program.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Any combination of training and experience that would provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the required qualifications would be:
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Must have the ability to obtain a CPR and First Aid card upon employment.
- The equivalent of the completion of the 12th grade.
- At least one year of experience working with public in a recreation related field.
WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- Candidates must be able to work weekends and evening hours on an on-call basis.
- Perform all physical aspects of the position, including walking, standing, bending, reaching, and lifting up to 50 pounds at a time.
JOB DUTIES
Essential job functions may include, but are not limited to the following:
- Work with part-time staff to plan, organize and implement daily and weekly recreation activities for children in a wide variety of program areas.
- Ensure all daily and weekly reports are completed and turned in on time.
- Supervise and lead daily and weekly recreation activities such as arts and crafts, games, nature, etc.
- Ensure all activities are conducted in a safe and healthy manner.
- Ensure the site is left clean and ready for the next day’s activities.
- Evaluate programs.
- Responsible for opening and closing the City of Sanger Facilities.
- Open and prepare for recreation classes and sporting events.
- Perform other related duties as required.

- Promotes, develops, and maintains positive public relations between the department and the community with an emphasis on customer service.
- Maintain cooperative working relationships with the recreation staff, public works staff, and fire and police departments.
- Think quickly and make decisions in unexpected situations.
- Work responsibly without direct supervision.
- Must be able to write legibly and speak clearly and understandability.
- Must be able to follow directions; understand rules and interpret them to others.
- Possess knowledge of techniques and methods of planning recreation activities for children.
- Ability to plan, organize and lead activities for children.
