About the Opportunity
Sierra Central Credit Union is a member-owned financial institution that has served Northern California communities for more than 70 years. This role is responsible for originating and servicing a variety of commercial loans (conventional, CRE, SBA, C&I) to include some complex credits in a start-up environment. Responsible for developing and managing commercial loan relationships that meet established lending requirements and maximize profitability to the credit union with minimal risk. Provides portfolio maintenance and loan administration in accordance with SCCU and NCUA policies.
What You Will Do
- Develops new business and expands existing relationships.
- Make calls on potential new commercial lending relationships, identifies needs, secures financial data for analysis and makes proposals for new business.
- Grows loan portfolio by marketing, making and managing commercial and MBL loans.
- Assists prospective and current business owners with credit needs and with formulating solutions to credit related issues.
- Reviews existing member relationships for opportunities to meet additional needs with other products or services, makes proposals as appropriate.
- Interviews business loan applicants gathering credit application information to determine business needs.
- Explains loan options, rates, terms and collateral requirements, cross-selling other applicable SCCU products and services.
- Communicates and negotiates credit terms and repayment schedules within established guidelines.
- Compiles loan proposal information and presents loans which exceed credit authority to loan committee for recommendation and approval.
- Maintains current knowledge of commercial and MBL loan products and services as well as knowledge of the markets within the credit union’s footprint.
- Manages all loans within the loan portfolio and performs ongoing monitoring and risk rating functions.
- Responsible for identification and evaluation of deteriorating loan situations in order to minimize losses.
- Ensure all business loans are compliant with credit union policies, procedures, NCUA, federal and state regulations.
- Ensure all assigned production goals are met on a regular basis.
- Represent the credit union at various community functions.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
Required Skills and Abilities
- Proven ability to successfully develop new business and expand existing business relationships.
- Proven ability to work with potential commercial lending relationships to identify needs and secures financial data for analysis, making proposals for new business.
- Proven track record in sales ability and aptitude in the area of business development.
- Ability to grow loan portfolio by marketing and managing commercial and MBL loans.
- Ability to assist prospective and current business owners with credit needs and formulating solutions to credit related issues.
- Must have strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to meet deadlines while maintaining a high attention to detail.
- Must possess strong sales skills and a proven negotiating ability.
- Must know all the products and services of the credit union regarding loan products and be able to describe them in detail.
- Must be aware of how the credit union operates, its policies regarding lending and membership requirements.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in a business-related field or significant relevant experience with a proven successful track record.
- Requires three years in business or commercial lending and experience managing a business or commercial loan portfolio and member service with a strong emphasis on business product knowledge.
- CRE, C&I and SBA origination experience preferred.

Work Location
The Corporate Headquarters is in Yuba City, CA. This role will be based out of Roseville, CA.
Compensation Range
The company anticipates offering an annual salary of $90,000 plus commissions for this position at the time of hire. This range includes base salary and does not include possible overtime for non-exempt employees or any applicable performance-based incentives or commissions.
